i would be pleased to throw something on this issue on which i have pondered for years. it seems that most of us at most of our time try to project what we conceive the sweetest relationship into that between children and us. However, the relationship between us and whom we love is somehow by nature complicated and subtle. all the time it is not until we care about someone from very heart do we start to learn and perceive what is joy or despair, what is hope or frustration, what is jealousness, what are laughter and tears, what are sweetness and pain, what is betrayal, debt or toture, and so forth... sometimes it hurts us deeply when we learn that whom we adore most are not willing to make close with us or just treat us platitude... sometimes it is not until we hurt our best friends, families and lovers badly and cruelly, our attchments for them become clearer, deeper, placid or elevated... no one is definitely generous, the relationship of love is somehow possessive... it is due to the essence of love, the possessiveness, we discover ecstasy and the sweetest moment in our life... in this sense, why are you going to devote yourself to children? when you are exerting your love, you are trying to obtain their heart... at the same time, you feel frustrated if you are not attractive enough; and so do they. if you never really argue with the child or hurt them, if you never feel the torture within the relationship, are you really making friends with them as you do to your best friends and family, or gf/bf friend? at the same time, so do the children have the same feeling toward you... it is interesting we do every effort to make positive relationship with the children in our camp, or at least try to do good to them. this passion is surely artificial... we don't try to do that to our neighbours, to every friend we know, to the passerby we meet on the street and campus... we show our good heart selectively, only to "the children in our camp"... why don't we try to keep long-term relationship with the wanderer in the underground passage? what's the intention we do evry effort to beautify the children? life and man's relationship is so profound and mysterious if we treat it too easy, one day we'll pay...
