Magma gets high marks in EDA market study

Magma demonstrated its biggest advantage in the category of design implementation flow. Eight-three percent of respondents ranked Magma first in integrated design implementation flow, the highest percentage score for any category in the survey. Cadence and Synopsys were each ranked first in this category by 8 percent of respondents.
Of the 88 percent of overall respondents who responded to the question, 100 percent said Magma's ongoing legal dispute with Synopsys would not impact their decision to use Magma tools.
Potential bad news for IC Compiler
The Project Sandpiper report also paints a grim picture of Synopsys' IC Compiler—though only slightly more than half of the already small total number of respondents completed this portion of the survey. Still, 89 percent of those that did respond "emphatically stated" that IC Compiler is "not a significant improvement for the company's design implementation offering."
In a comment that Desai said was representative of the overall feedback on this issue, one large IDM user said of IC Compiler: "When it finally comes out [is released with full functionality], it will be close to what Magma offered [a few years ago]."
