昨晚看到一則新聞：有人把美國國防部長倫斯斐的廢話編成詩集：《智慧的
拾零-倫斯斐的存在主義的詩集》（Pieces of Intelligence: The Existential
Poetry of Donald H. Rumsfeld），並錄了兩首，我讀之絕倒。
真的，我從未看過如此將存在主義、後現代主義體現得如此淺顯、精妙又諷
刺之至的詩作。下面就附上那兩首；那位編譯翻得不好，所以我另外翻一次。
The Unknown
As we know,
There are known unknowns. 有些事早已眾所周知
There are things we know we know. 有些事我們知道自己知道
We also know 我們也知道
There are known unknowns. 有些事早已知道是不可知的
That is to say 也就是說
We know there are some things 我們知道有些事
We do not know. 我們並不知道
But there are also unknown unknowns, 不過也有些不可知事我們並不知曉
The ones we don't know 那些我們不知道的事
We don't know. 我們也就不知道
未知
就我們所知，
有許多已知的未知。
有些事我們知道我們知道；
我們也知道，
有許多未知是已知的，
也就是說，
我們知道有些事
我們不知道；
但還有許多未知的未知，
也就是那些我們不知道
我們不知道的事。
Happenings
You're going to be told lots of things. 你將會被告知許多事
You get told things every day that don't happen. 你每天被告知的事其實是子虛烏有
It doesn't seem to bother people, -they don't. 看來人們也不以為意--他們不在意
It's printed in the press. 報紙會刊出來
The world thinks all these things happen. 世人以為這些事都會發生
They never happened. 他們卻不曾發生過
Everyone's so eager to get the story 每個人都急於地想一窺究竟
Before in fact the story's there 在消息真正發生之前
That the world is constantly being fed 世人經常被灌輸
Things that haven't happened. 沒有發生過的事
All I can tell you is, 我只能告訴你
It hasn't happened. 它未曾發生
It's going to happen. 它將會發生
發生
你將會被告知許多事
你每天都會被告知許多其實並未發生的事
而人們看來也不以為意－－是的，他們不在意。
刊在報紙上
世人都以為確有其事
而實無其事
每個人都焦急地想知道真相
在事實本身發生以前 （或意譯：即使事實本身都還沒發生）
所以說世人總在被灌輸
以尚未發生的事。
我只能告訴你的是，
它並未發生，
而它將會發生。
