The theme for this year is "Building Tomorrow's Leaders." The aim of the Program is to offer senior Business/Economics or Social Science students an opportunity to understand key international business and economic issues through a program of site tours and in-depth discussions with management professionals from a wide spectrum of leading international companies in Hong Kong. Students will also be divided into teams for a project on current business and economic topics through group discussions and analysis. All teams will present their findings through an Oral Presentation towards the close of the Program. The aim of this exercise is to: · promote a competitive exchange of ideas among the students; · develop problem-solving skills in a real business environment; and · help students enhance mutual understanding, co-operation, and communication skills. Given the local sponsorships, there is no cost to the students. However, students residing outside of Hong Kong are responsible for their own transportation to Hong Kong and back. Students will stay at a designated place of residence commencing July 1 (day of arrival) to July 15 (inclusive only for the Macau and Taiwan students while the Hong Kong and Mainland students check out in the morning). In addition to the educational aspects of the BOP, social and recreational activities will be featured as well. This year, the Hong Kong Pei Hua Education Foundation will sponsor a one-day trip to Nansha in Guangdong Province and will take students to visit several prominent local organizations there. AmCham is proud to have organized such a successful program for so many years. The Chamber is committed to providing educational experiences to support and contribute to the effectiveness of the Hong Kong business community, and we believe the 2002 Business Orientation Program plays an important part in fulfilling this goal.
