ckal 說的實在太棒了
非常有參考的價值  :)
那個 contest chair... 不但不尊重 judges 更是無法掌控全場的氣氛
非常非常不專業 整個人太浮躁了
但是這一切是有些內幕 不適合優秀青年們的耳朵s  所以 my lips are sealed  :)

but I must say,
Contest Chair David Wang (for the prepared speech contest on Sunday)
did an excellent job; hopefully, he saved the face for District 67.

我觀摩過 2003到今年的 Spring and Fall Conventions
我真的得說
今年的主辦單位 Division E 實在辦得很... 讓人不舒服
（所以明年換我們 Division C & Division A 辦了
 我們一定要想得周到點 不要讓人說閒話 ^^
 辦個轟轟烈烈的!!）

我想一個有水準的 convention 到底該如何辦
嗯嗯  參加過兩三次以上的人 都知道
況且  今年剛上任的 Division C Governor Marian Hsiao  更是清楚
所以不在此多說  (畢竟我也還是個菜鳥 ^^")

我只想針對 ckal 所說的
"Jack講得很棒  但是得獎者的爭議性很大" 發言

Yes, I absolutely agree:
Master11, you are amazing!

You've improved immensely since the Division C contest;
the performance, excellent
the humor, wow --> 絕對被你修飾得更是好笑了!!
and I did notice you taking away some of the content that
did not receive big audience response during your previous trials
--> that shows amazing observation, not something everyone knows how to do!
(這, 我覺得 才是最值得恭喜你的地方  ^Q^)


爭議性呢...  what does this actually mean?

我是覺得啊
客觀的爭議性 happens when...
1. all judges have scored all speakers WITHOUT bias
2. all speakers have put on the same level of performance

常常比賽到如 Fall/Spring Conventions 的 levels 時
大家的實力都是相當的
此時到底誰會是 the ultimate Champion 則很難判定
因為每個 judges 會有特別喜好的 表演模式 或 演講內容
這不能說是 judges 不公
而只能說 judges 本身在評論每個人的演講時
就是用他那一套邏輯去評論的
(所以既然是大家都用同一套 就不會是 biased;
 because he/she is grading everyone on the same baseline)

在這種情況下
會脫穎而出的一定就是那位一講完後
全場人只能說 "Wow. 冠軍非他莫屬."

我記得去年的 Fall Convention, Ed Tate (1999 World Champion) 說過一句話
如果要參賽 則 do it so well that you leave the judges and the audience
thinking "Who's second place?"

到了全國賽的 level, 已經沒有所謂的 good speech/bad speech;
only WINNING SPEECH.

Every prepared speech contestant gave their best. You are all GREAT!
And now you know what the audience expect, what the judges expect,
and next year,
not only will you continue to be great but also the champion!


rjgirl is right: 沒參加 2005 Spring Convention 的人 的確 missed out a lot
但是 錯過 週六的場次 相對之下 沒 missed out on too much  哈哈~
1. prepared speech contest 競爭非常激烈
   台下的人看的叫好  ^Q^
   更是沒參賽者的最佳觀摩對象  :)
2. Division E 辦不好的地方 Division A & C 應該看在眼裡
   2005 FallCon 時
