[Exciting News] We've got Geroge and Jorie join TM Union!

Dear NTU TMers,

   Doing well ? I have formally invited International Director, George Yen,
and his wife, Jorie Wu  Director of Imagine Taiwan Program, to come join us
to listen to us and offer help & advices.

   Both of them served as District Governor some years ago, their devotion in
Young Toastmasters community in Taiwan is doubtlessly respectful. George showed
up last time when the TM Union get-together was secondly held in summer, he was
there to listen first and then share some of his stories and ideas at the last
session , it was really inspiring and informative.

   They came to NCKU,Tainan to support a student initiated volunteering program
yesterda, I had the chance to meet them again and I mentioned about TM Union.
They are pretty much excited to hear that the ball is still rolling !

   They said Yes to me to come to the upcoming TM Union held by NTUTMC, so I
am here delighted to share this great piece of good news with you, as you might
know them well , they will be there like your friends to talk and share!! ^^



 Will see you all on Jan.30th , 2008~ It's coming !


PS. Mike Yang, one of the most supportive district officers for our Union,
also feel excited about coming when I was having phone call with him days
before , so let's spread it out!

Young Toastmasters Union Formed in Amazing District 67, Taiwan
令人驚艷的District67台灣青年演講會聯盟順利成立

It was a historical and exceptionally beautiful afternoon. Over thirty
five young Taiwanese Toastmasters leaders and five student club founders
gathered at Shi Men Ting , Taipei, on 8/26 , 2007. That was the second time
that Chen Kung Toastmasters Club took the initiative to organize an event
like this. This year, it has a more aggressive goal to formulate this kind
of event into a Young Toastmasters Union, setting a role model for the global
youth leadership development within Toastmasters International.
回想起那天，真是歷史性的美麗下午。在8月26日那天，共有超過35位台灣演講會的年
輕領導人以及五位學生分會年輕創辦人聚集於台北西門町餐敘。這是第二次由成功大學
英語演講會發起的聯誼討論活動，而今年的目標更為激進，我們努力邀集大家並且將大
家凝聚在一起，希望透過此次聚餐來成立台灣青年演講會聯盟，更希望能夠為國際演講
協會在全球青年領導統馭的發展上立下一個好的典範。

With luck, this event brought attention from TI’s International Director,
George Yen, DTM , who brought back the ideas from TI’s board meetings at
the 2007 International Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. These ideas of
bridging different generations of leaders worldwide inspired all the
participants. North PR , District 67. Mike Yang, has just finished his
service in Division C, having been substantially assisting five student
Toastmasters clubs among the 11 school clubs island wide. And the service
is believed to continue. They are both Toastmasters top leaders who care
about the development of the student toastmasters club on Taiwan. They were
there to listen and to communicate. I myself as one of the student club
founders, serving as Division D Assistant Governor of Education started
forming this Union two years ago, also one of the strong supporters of this
event.

這次很幸運地，我們的大集會吸引到了來自台灣的國際演講協會國際理事顏瑛宗先生的
關心，剛從美國亞利桑納州鳳凰城參加演講協會年度世界大會回來的他，帶給我們不少
他在演講協會最高董事會議裡所討論的想法與概念，那些概念都是針對總會對於青年的
校園演講分會以及促進跨世代領導溝通的重視，平常就熱愛與青年學子溝通想法的顏先
生，深深地激勵了當場的演講會青年領袖們。另外，平常對於學生分會照顧有加且輔導
有功的總會資深領導人楊冀光先生在剛從任務重大的C部總監卸任後也參與了這場饗宴
，在他C部總監任內以最實在方式輔導了他轄區內五個校園分會，這五個幸福的校園分
會在楊先生的大力加持之下，表現優異。我們相信，他對於學生分會的發展與服務必定
會持續下去。他們兩位都是演講協會非常關心台灣的校園演講分會發展的領導人，那天
，他們不斷傾聽且有效溝通。我身為成大創會會長以及現任D部教育副總監，在兩年前就
試著開始籌組這樣的團體，今年由成大現任優秀IPP主辦，我自然是各方面極力相挺。


PS. 顏瑛宗先生今年五月應成大之邀針對<全球公民與你>於成大發表演講。
    顏先生隨後於台大也做了兩場專題演講。

The event organizer, Charlie Hung , IPP of Cheng Kung Toastmasters Club
started the work months ago , motivated by his remarkable experiences at
Toastmasters. He aims at improving the communications and leadership skills
among student leaders and the district leaders through face to face discussion
to share the ideas as well as some workable solutions with everyone in a way
Toastmasters would like the most, that is , public speaking.
   本次青年聯盟聚會主辦人黃英博，身兼成大分會剛卸任會長，在好幾個月前就開始
進行聯繫以及發起的工作，發起的動機來自於他在演講會兩年令人驚嘆也令自己驚嘆的
經驗。他的理念是想要透過這次活動來促進各分會之間的溝通與提升大家的領導技巧，
並且透過面對面的討論與總會幹部分享創意點子以及針對校園演講會遇到的問題提出一
些可行之解決方案，特別的是，我們仍然以演講會人士最愛的方式來呈現想法，那就是
當場來個公眾演說。


Here are some issues and proposals came out from the event:
1.      Organize a Student Club National Speech Contest.
2.      Our District will co-host the "Rotary Inter-Collegiate English Speech
Contest 2008"with Rotary Clubs , Studio Classroom and ICRT in March next
year. Our campus clubs should help promote this contest and send representatives
to the contest.
3.      Build club history and club profile since it began.
4.      CC & CL programs and solutions to produce more speakers were discussed.
5.      The practice of Distinguished Club Program was discussed.
6.      Promotional and financial management were discussed.
7.      The mechanism to effectively train new officers and orient new members.
8.      Plans for members as well as officers to do during long adjournment.
9.      Officer training specifically for student club officers at the Union
meetings.
10.     The adjustment to meetings during midterm and final exams.
11.     The issue about the gap & bridges between community clubs and student
clubs.
12.     Innovative sessions and issues discussion groups in student clubs.
13.     TMC in school would help conduct some leadership programs for school
clubs.
14.     Publish a book talking about the stories and history for young
toastmasters in Taiwan.


在這次盛會當中，有不少議題跟提案，在這裡簡要報告:

1.      擬聯合舉辦演講比賽全國學生分會英語演講比賽。
2.      學生分會當協助宣傳並參加由空中英語教室,ICRT與扶輪社所舉辦的大專生英
語演講比賽。
3.      鼓勵各分會自製自己的演講會歷史紀錄跟檔案，以發揮行銷綜效並凝聚向心力。
4.      會議中討論了如何搭配使用CC&CL雙軌並進制度。
5.      會議中討論傑出分會計畫的實施要點。
6.      學生分會行銷管理以及財務管理的經驗分享。
7.      建立有效率的幹部訓練以及傳承制度以應付學生分會流動率極高的問題。
8.      在寒暑假修會期間比一般分會長，故建立長假進修計畫勢在必行。
9.      於每年兩次的學生分會聯盟聚會時來進行社團經營經驗分享與幹部訓練。
10.     期中期末考期間的應對措施以及例會安排調整方案。
11.     會議中針對校園分會與社區分會的不同處與隔閡處進行討論。
12.     創新的會議內容設計以及議題英文討論會的經驗分享。
13.     演講會於各校園內可以舉辦各社團領導人訓練，以推廣演講會領導以及溝通兩
大主軸。
14.     以台灣青年演講會發展為題出書，傳達動人故事以及精采生活。

Student clubs encounter almost the same type of problems and obstacles in the
management work. Students clubs are so unique and important that they should
be working things out with different approaches from the community clubs.
So, that’s why there is a need for club officers to gather and talk.
In District 67 , student clubs would become national treasurers for Taiwan
with the well-crafted Toastmasters programs educating future leaders in a way
that science can’t capture. In the end of this event, they decided to gather
and talk biannually.

有鑑於學生分會在經營過程通常會遇到很多相同的基本面問題以及困難，再加上學生分
會相對於佔絕大多數的社區型以及企業型分會是非常獨特的，而經營者通常要以不同於
一般分會的經營手法來達成共同目標，自從2005年起，創會會長們就很希望能夠成立
聯盟，讓大家定期位共同喜愛的演講會來聚集討論分享並結交夥伴，互相學習。我們相
信，在D67台灣這塊土地上，藉由國際總會精心設計的教育資料手冊以及連科學家都無法
跟進的溝通領導各級資料的研讀與實際練習，我們相信一定會不斷地教育出越來越多未
來優秀領導人，學生演講分會將會成為國家寶藏之一，在會議的尾聲，我們都達成一個
很重要的共識，那就是我們從2007年開始要每年分別在寒暑假輪流舉辦兩次全國學生分
會幹部領袖聚餐會談，搭配幾間學校半年改選一次幹部，我們可以讓每屆幹部認識不同
學校的夥伴。

NTU Toastmasters Club president, Cindy, has already taken the job to organize
a gathering this coming winter. The goal states : Young Toastmasters Union
Formed and the Problem-solving Platform Activated. We believe that the Union
is going to be one of its kind and the most unique Union in Toastmasters
International.

台大國際英語演講會歷史屬於學生分會中最為悠久，現任會長Cindy，已經答應接手舉辦寒
假的聯盟會議。下次會議我期待能夠帶領青年分會聯盟進入更高峰，我心中的目標:
青年演講會聯盟正式成立之問題解決平台啟動。我們相信這個聯盟將會是國際演講協會史
上最獨特的聯盟。
