Carefully review the appendix of chapter 1, especially page 26 and 27.
2. Textbook: page 16, #4 and #5. (20%)
Opportunity cost is an extremely important concept! Try to use this concept
as making any decisions in your daily life.
3. Why does the PPF (Production possibilities frontier) for most good bow
outward? (hint: relationship between opportunity cost and PPF) (10%)
4. Textbook: page 49, # 2 , #4 and #6. (30%)
5. Visit National Statistic, Taiwan: http://www1.stat.gov.tw. Choose one kind
of time series data set (For example, un-employment rate data, GNP growth
rate, CPI change rate, etc., ). (i) Write down its definition and time
horizon you choose.(monthly data, seasonal data; from Jan. 1978 to to Dec,
2005, etc., ) (ii) Make a graph for about one year (or longer). (iii)Write a
brief report to tell your classmates about the trend of this data during time
periods. (No more than 200 words.)
