Manager Willie Randolph said Wagner (dead arm) was available to close Sunday
if needed. He wasn't, as the Mets lost, 6-2 to the Dodgers, the NY Newsday
reports. "I'm fine," Wagner said after soft-tossing in the bullpen.
Wagner entered Sunday fifth in the NL with 29 saves but had a 12.00 ERA in
the first five games of a six-game homestand that ended last night. He said
the day off Saturday - when Aaron Heilman closed - gave him a chance to
"refill the tank." Look for Wagner to be used if a save situation arises
during the Mets' upcoming four-game series with the Phillies.
