Righty endures shortest start; Cano's homers not enough

王在一開始就輸給了藍鳥
生涯投球局數最短的先發;好朋友Cano的雙響砲並不足夠讓王花費

TORONTO -- By the time the Yankees' three-game series against
the Blue Jays came to an end, New York couldn't wait to get out
of town, and that includes injured third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
Rodriguez sat out the Yankees' 15-4 loss to the Jays because of
a sore right calf muscle. The injury occurred when he was hit on
the right leg by a fastball from Toronto's Josh Towers on
Tuesday night.

到了洋基對抗藍鳥三連戰的最後時候，洋基球員已經等不及要回到他們的
主場，包括受傷的三壘手阿肉。阿肉因為右腳受傷，所以這場比賽坐在一
旁看洋基以15-4慘敗給藍鳥。阿肉會受傷是因為在星期二的晚上遭到藍鳥
的"高塔"以快速球伺候。

The Yankees slugger was approached by a group of reporters after
Wednesday's game for an update on his injury.

這位洋基的強打者在賽後，告訴記者他的傷勢

"Sore," Rodriguez abruptly said as he exited through the
clubhouse doors.

The media scrum tried to follow the 11-time All-Star out the
door to get more information, only to see Rodriguez start
jogging toward the team bus. If he's healthy enough to be
running away from reporters, then the injury can't be too
serious, can it?

"My guess is with the off-day tomorrow, he'll be all right,"
manager Joe Torre said.

Rodriguez wasn't the only player looking to make a quick exit
from Canada's only Major League city. New York's clubhouse was
almost deserted following a lopsided loss that saw the Yankees'
pitching staff surrender 15 runs on 16 hits.

阿肉並不是唯一一個腳底抹油的人。幾乎整個休息室的人，在這場投手群
狂丟15分被擊出16支安打的難堪比賽後，都快速的離開。

Wednesday's victim was right-hander Chien-Ming Wang. The 27-
year-old allowed a career-worst eight runs over just 2 2/3
innings en route to his first loss since July 19.

星期三的受害者王建民。這位27歲的投手，在2又2/3局的比賽中丟掉生涯
最高的八分，自7月19日以來第一次輸球。

It was an extremely uncharacteristic outing for Wang (13-6), who
entered Wednesday's game 12-2 with a 3.03 ERA over his last 16
starts, leading the Majors Leagues in wins over that span.

這個現象對王來說非常的不尋常，王在星期三之前過去16場先發拿下12勝
2敗3.03的自責失分，這一段時間內領先全大聯盟。

Wang had trouble locating a lot of his pitches and found himself
pitching from behind in the count for most of the night. The
Blue Jays recorded nine hits off the righty, including five that
went for extra bases.

過去的比賽，王在投球中碰過許多麻煩，大部份的情況他總能後來居上。
藍鳥今天從他手中敲出九支安打，包括五發長打。

Torre said he thought one of the main reasons for the rough
outing was Wang didn't have the type of movement he normally
does on his sinker.

托瑞說到他自己覺得主要的原因在於王的伸卡球移動的並不正常。

"It just didn't look like it was moving down as much as it was
moving from side to side," Torre said. "I think it was just
staying on a plane that made it a little bit easier to hit."

托瑞說︰伸卡球並不像往常一樣的往下掉。伸卡球移動的太平了所以打者
可以輕鬆的打到它。

"Unfortunately, games like this happen," outfielder Johnny Damon
said. "It's not going to happen to Wang too much. He kept a
couple of pitches up, they hit some line drives and the ground
balls they hit were getting through the holes."

大門賽後表示，很不幸的，比賽發生這樣的結果。這並不常出現在王的比

The 2 2/3 innings marked Wang's shortest outing of his Major
League career, which prompted some questions to be asked about
his health. But Torre just racks it up to an off night for his
right-hander.

"There's nothing that we suspect is wrong," Torre said.

New York's lone offensive output came via the long ball. Second
baseman Robinson Cano homered twice, while left fielder Hideki
Matsui hit his 23rd shot of the season.

洋基今天的攻勢薄弱，只帶來幾枚砲彈。包括二壘手Cano的雙響砲及左手
掃把擊出了本季第23號全壘打。

Roy Halladay (13-5) finished with four earned runs on six hits
while striking out eight over seven innings. The Jays' ace
managed to hold the Yankees (63-51) under five runs for the
first time in 11 games.

好樂迪今天被擊出了六支安打失四分，七局投出了八次三振。
這位藍鳥的王牌投手成功的壓制住洋基的打線得分在五分以下，

"He did a good job today," Cano said. "He's one of the best
pitchers in the business."

After Tuesday night's fireworks, the series finale ended rather
quietly. The only incident occurred during the fourth inning,
when New York's Bobby Abreu was ejected for arguing balls and
strikes with home-plate umpire Derryl Cousins.

After an off-day on Thursday, the Yankees will try to refocus
their attention toward an upcoming schedule that including the
top four American League teams in 17 of the next 20 games.

"It will be a tough stretch," Damon said, referring to games
against the Indians, Tigers, Angels and Red Sox. "They are teams
we have to go through to make the playoffs. ... But we're a very
good team. We knew that coming out of spring. Unfortunately, it
took us a little time to get things rolling, but we all feel
pretty good about how we have been playing."

大門說︰這將會是最困難的階段。在對上印地安、老虎、天使及紅襪的比賽。

Those positive comments coming after an 11-run loss may be
surprising to some, but not when New York's recent record is
taken into consideration. The Yankees are 20-8 since the All-
Star break, leading the American League in wins over that span.
Torre says the Bombers' recent success makes brushing off
Wednesday's disappointing game that much easier.

在狂失11分後，的確有些批評聲出現，但不是針對洋基最近的表現。
在明星賽後洋基打出20勝8負的佳績，領先美聯所有球隊。
托瑞說布朗克斯炸彈客最近很火熱，如果在星期三
這場令人失望的比賽中有所表現的話，我們會贏得更輕鬆。

"We've won so often," Torre said. "We know we're good at this
point in time. You go from now until the end of the season and
you know you're not going to win every ballgame. It wouldn't
have made us feel any better losing 2-1, that's for sure."

托瑞說︰最近我們常贏，在這個關鍵點上我們知道我們很棒。
你知道你們不可能從現在到季末的每場比賽都贏。
但可以確定的是，我們會贏得每一個系列賽。
