As you read this, Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy and some of the other young players are in a mandatory 「media training」 class at Legends Field. Trust me when I tell you, those two don't need it. The Franchise appealed to the beat writers to try and spring him, but Media Relations Czar Jason Zillo wouldn't give any special treatment. As for the manager, he'll get some of his own media training tonight. The beat writers asked Joe Girardi to dinner and he graciously accepted. It's an off-the-record affair, so don't expect any details. ———— Those of you who have sent me e-mails pleading for stories about prospects will be happy to know that I'm working on a story for tomorrow's paper on RHP Dan McCutchen. He's had quite a winding road to this point, one that has included three colleges, getting drafted four times and a 50-game suspension for PED use that he says was a misunderstanding. I'm not going to give the whole story away, but I did pick up one little piece of trivia. During the 2005 season at the University of Oklahoma, McCutchen beat Nebraska 5-1 on April 28. His opponent that day was a hard-throwing right-hander who had not yet lost a college game. His name? Joba Chamberlain. 「I'll never let him forget that,」 McCutchen said. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 192.149.109.55
