[新聞] Breaking news: Shelley Duncan likely to have surgery

不算很新的新聞 這個球季可能看不到雪麗了.

Shelley Duncan (left) will likely have surgery on his injured right shoulder
Tuesday but said it's "not for certain" that the injury will be season
ending. He is going to the see the doctor again Monday to make sure he has to
have the surgery. Initial indications were that the injury had the potential
to be season ending depending on its severity, and Duncan said today that the
separation is "about as bad as it gets."

With Duncan out for the forseeable future, the Yankees have re-signed
outfielder/first baseman Ben Broussard to a minor league deal and sent him
back to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Broussard is supposed to arrive sometime
during tonight's game.

Despite Johnny Damon's injury in the New York outfield this afternoon, Justin
Christian is in the lineup in left field. Alberto Gonzalez is back at
shortstop, Cody Ransom is getting his first start at second base, Eric Duncan
is still at third and JD Closser's hot back is staying in the lineup as the
designated hitter.

Chris Britton has been assigned here, but he won't join the team until
Sunday's road trip to Toledo. Doubt he would have been available to pitch the
next two days anyway after going two innings Thursday.
