The Yankees start the day 9.5 games behind Tampa Bay in the division
and six games behind Boston in the wild card with 39 games left.
This is the final game of a brief three-day homestand.
They play at Toronto on Tuesday.

MUSSINA FOR 20: 
Mussina has eight starts left. He has never won 20 games in his career.
A win today would tie him with Bob Feller for career victories with 266.
Moose is 17-7, 2.96 against Kansas City in his career.

LINEUP LOCKED IN: 
With the exception of the catchers, Joe Girardi has stuck with the same
lineup for three days in a row.
This seems to be a newdirection and is likely the result of feedback from
the players.
It'll be interesting to see what happens when next they face a left-hander.

UPDATE, 11:10 p.m:
Hideki Matsui had 15ABs in a simulated game down in Tampa this morning,
11 against a RHP and four against a LHP.If his knee holds up, he could be back
with the Yankees as early as Tuesday.

He will be limited to DH the remainder of the season once he does return.
His knee will need surgery at the end of the season. You have give Matsui
credit, a lot of players would have shut it down with all the issues he has
had with his knee this season.

Having Matsui back can only help. Wonder who would get cut?
