PHILADELPHIA -- Johnny Damon and Alex Rodriguez stunned Brad Lidge and the
Citizens Bank Park crowd with a memorable rally in the top of the ninth
inning on Sunday, stealing a 7-4 victory in Game 4 of the World Series and
taking a commanding 3-1 advantage.

After Pedro Feliz put the Phillies back in the game with a game-tying home
run off Joba Chamberlain in the eighth inning, Damon rose to the occasion by
working a nine-pitch at-bat off Lidge before reaching with a two-out single.

With Lidge working to Mark Teixeira and the infield shifted to the right
side, Damon then alertly stole second base and popped up from his slide to
swipe the uncovered third base on the same play.

A-Rod drilled an RBI double to left-center, giving the Yankees the lead, and
Jorge Posada added a run-scoring single before being tagged out trying to
stretch his single to a double to end the inning. The advantage held up to
put the Yankees just one victory from securing their 27th World Series
championship in Monday's Game 5.

The start was a bit of a struggle for Sabathia, who started Game 1 for New
York at Yankee Stadium, but he hung in against Philadelphia despite having

Sabathia limited the Phillies to three runs over 6 2/3 innings, exiting after
his 107th and final pitch was rocketed over the wall for a Chase Utley home
run. The $161 million hurler allowed seven hits while walking three (two
intentionally) and striking out seven.

After the Yankees scored twice off Joe Blanton in the first inning, Derek
Jeter and Johnny Damon logged run-scoring hits to give the Yankees the lead
in the fifth. Nick Swisher opened by accepting a four-pitch walk from Blanton
and Melky Cabrera was credited with a single as Utley attempted a
behind-the-back flip on a potential double-play ball

Jeter then drilled a one-out single past a diving Jimmy Rollins to send
Swisher home with the third New York run, with Jeter having now hit safely in
all four games of this Series. Damon followed with a flare single into
shallow right field that made it 4-2.

Blanton ventured six innings, allowing four runs on five hits while walking
two and striking out seven. He was touched in the first inning as Jeter beat
out an infield single and Damon followed with a double to set up a
run-scoring Teixeira groundout.

Rodriguez was hit by a Blanton offering, drawing a warning to both benches
from home-plate umpire Mike Everitt. Television microphones captured
Rodriguez telling Everitt, "It's the third time. It's a little obvious."

But Sabathia was able to limit the damage by stranding two men aboard in the
first, and held Philadelphia to just a game-tying run in the fourth, with
help from as Ryan Howard's baserunning.

The strikeout-prone slugger opened the frame with a single to center and
stole second base unchecked. Feliz dropped a two-out single in front of
Damon, who threw a two-hopper home as Howard slid headfirst into the catcher
Posada, jarring the ball loose.

The Phillies had another opportunity in the fifth. Rollins legged out an
infield single and Victorino walked to open the frame, but Sabathia got Utley
and Ryan Howard to pop out before striking out Jayson Werth swinging, ending
the threat.

其實，費城人在第五局是有機會的，不過下盤很穩的CC還是穩住了...XD

After Sabathia's exit, Damaso Marte came on for one out and Yankees manager
Joe Girardi entrusted the eighth inning to Chamberlain, who quickly struck
out the first two batters he faced. But Feliz connected for the game-tying
homer, bringing the Citizens Bank Park crowd back to life.

馬鐵上來負責一個出局數，然後接著換張伯倫，很有guts的拼命用速球對決打者，爽~

The Yankees will try for their 27th World Series title and first since 2000
on Monday, with A.J. Burnett pitching on three days' rest and opposed by Cole
Hamels, who beat New York with a complete-game effort in Game 1 of the Fall
Classic.
