   洋基隊陣中最不可或缺的球員之一的Mariano Rivera，在今年的季後賽中上場投球員
其實是帶著胸部的傷。如果Rivera在世界大賽的第六戰投得不好，同時洋基輸了球的話，
他是不是在第七戰還有辦法上場對上費城人隊呢?

    對於這個問題，Rivera微笑的表示："我現在不想談論這個問題。" 話中的意思意味
著他不想回答假設性的問題。

　　在美聯冠軍系列賽的第六戰還對天使投了34球的Rivera表示，他是在這個系列賽中傷
到自己的。

　　總教練Girardi則表示Rivera的傷是發生在世界大賽第二戰，他投了兩局39球為洋基
保住3比1的勝利後受的傷。

　　Girardi表示："他第一次上場投兩局後，便覺得胸腔那兒有點酸，那是他第一次有這
種感覺。他休息一天後，我們再做檢查。我們認為可能是我們一直是讓他上場投一局，不
習慣的緣故。他還好，只是我們需要注意這件事。"

    週三世界大賽第六戰，Rivera花了41球取得五個出局，解決費城隊後。就像Rivera一
樣，Girardi並不想要預測如果需要打第七戰，Rivera能不能上場投球的問題。

　　Girardi表示："第六戰我們能夠終結比賽取得勝利，真的非常重要。"

    在世界大賽費城人球場的一場賽事後，有人問道Rivera為何他在牛棚時，胸部要放著
熱敷墊呢。Rivera表示因為他覺得冷 (似乎和CC季賽中先前的狀況很像)。當洋基隊週五
遊行時，Rivera拒絕表示他到底歷經多大的痛苦才幫洋基保住季後賽的勝利。

    Rivera表示: "我必須撐過傷勢，當你沒辦法解決受傷的問題時，就只好撐過去。"

    雖然39歲的Rivera是帶著傷投季後賽，但是不會停止他想要再投五個球季的雄心。當
然，Girardi對Rivera的雄心感到相當歡迎。
　　
    Girardi表示："MO，就以你的方式繼續投下去，你真得幫球隊更容易取得勝利。"

was fine with that possibility.

Not Even Ribcage Injury Stopped Rivera

Mariano Rivera, one of the most indispensable Yankees, pitched with a ribcage
injury during the postseason. If Rivera had faltered in Game 6 of the World
Series and the Yankees had lost, would he have been fit enough to pitch in a
Game 7 against the Philadelphia Phillies?

“I don’t want to talk about it now,” said Rivera, with a smile, meaning
there was no need to address the hypothetical question.

Rivera, who tossed 34 pitches against the Los Angeles Angels in Game 6 of the
American League Championship Series, said he injured himself in the A.L.C.S.

Manager Joe Girardi said Rivera’s injury occurred in Game 2 of the World
Series. Rivera pitched two innings and threw 39 pitches while saving a 3-1
victory.

“He was a little sore back there,” Girardi said. “It happened the first
time he went two innings. That was when he first felt it. He had a day off
and we checked him. We figured we’d always use him an inning. He was fine.
It was something we had to watch.”

It took Rivera 41 pitches to get five outs and finish off the Phillies in the
decisive Game 6 Wednesday. Like Rivera, Girardi did not want to speculate on
whether Rivera could have pitched in a Game 7.

“It was real important we close it out in Game 6,” Girardi said.

After one of the World Series games in Philadelphia, Rivera was asked why he
was holding a heating pad against his ribcage in the bullpen. Rivera said he
was cold. As the Yankees were honored with a parade Friday, Rivera declined
to say how much pain he endured.

“I had to go through it,” Rivera said. “There’s nothing you can do about
it.”

Although Rivera, 39, pitched through an injury, it did not stop him from
declaring that he wanted to pitch for five more seasons. Of course, Girardi
was fine with that possibility.
