Yanks Head West, and So Do Rings

Since last Tuesday’s championship ring ceremony at Yankee Stadium, the
Yankees have started dispersing rings to the rest of the 2009 team. Everyone
who appeared on the active roster during the season will get one — even
those who barely played, like Anthony Claggett, or never got into a game,
like Steven Jackson.
上星期二championship ring ceremony後，洋基開始發送冠軍戒給其他還沒拿到的球員。
只要曾經在25人名單的都有，包括幾乎沒比賽的Anthony Claggett，或者是根本沒上場的
Steven Jackson。
“I remember talking to A.J. Burnett about the ring he won with the Marlins,
and he didn’t feel like he earned it, because he was hurt,” said Josh
Towers, who pitched just twice for the Yankees last season and is now with
the Dodgers’ Class AAA team. “I kind of felt the same way, like I was just
kind of taking up space over there. But then people started saying that a
lot of great players go their whole careers and never get one, so I’m sure
it will be special.”

With the Yankees headed to Oakland this week, Manager Joe Girardi is bringing
a ring for Chad Gaudin and Edwar Ramirez, the former Yankees right-handers
who now pitch for the Athletics. General Manager Brian Cashman has also sent
rings to Brian Bruney and Chien-Ming Wang of the Nationals and Phil Coke and
Johnny Damon of the Tigers.
因為洋基接下來要跟運動家比賽，所以吉總將把Chad Gaudin and Edwar Ramirez的戒指
帶過去給他們。GM Cashman也把戒指寄去或送去給在國民的Brian Bruney及王建民，
和在老虎的Phil Coke 及 Johnny Damon。
“Johnny just got his yesterday,” Cashman said. “He texted me: ‘Just got
the ring. It’s wonderful. Thank you very much.’ ”
「Johnny昨天拿到戒指了，他給我傳了個簡訊：『剛拿到戒指，真好，非常謝謝你。』」
Cashman說道。
After Jerry Hairston Jr. flew in from San Diego to pick up his ring last
Tuesday, he left with rings for his former teammates Melky Cabrera and
Eric Hinske, who are now with the Atlanta Braves. The Padres were playing
the Braves the next night, and Hairston delivered the rings to his former
teammates.
上星期二Jerry Hairston Jr飛到紐約領取戒指，同時他替Melky Cabrera
及 Eric Hinske領取，而在隔天晚上教士跟勇士的比賽時，他把戒指交給他們。
