http://0rz.tw/dn7Kl BOSTON - Even when first place isn't on the line, tensions run high when the Yankees and Red Sox meet. Things didn't boil over Friday night between the ancient rivals, but Boston righthander Josh Beckett definitely has them simmering. Beckett went to the mound for the sixth inning of Friday night's 10-3 Yankees victory at Fenway Park with the Sox trailing 3-1. Before the inning was complete he had most of the Bombers standing on the top step of the third base dugout shouting at him for using them for target practice. Beckett drilled Robinson Cano just above the left knee, doing enough damage so that he had to leave the game. He twice threw in the vicinity of Francisco Cervelli's head during a bases loaded walk. And he hit Derek Jeter in the back to force in another run. It's hard to gauge whether Beckett was throwing with intent. At one point during the inning, he threw a pitch that was nowhere close to catcher Jason Varitek's glove and nailed him in the left forearm. And of course they only served to fuel a six-run rally that ultimately sank Boston. But it was clear from the way CC Sabathia waved his hands and Alex Rodriguez screamed and pointed to the mound that the Yankees saw none of it as an accident. And it definitely makes Sabathia's start today a must-see event. Yankees starter Phil Hughes tacked on another strong start to his growing string of them. He didn't allow a hit until J.D. Drew's single in the fourth and ended up allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk over seven innings to improve to 4-0. He has allowed 17 hits in 32 innings pitched this season and his seven strikeouts Friday night bring his season total to 31. His ERA is 1.69. Nick Swisher put the Yankees in the driver's seat with a three-run home run in the fourth inning, a blast to dead center that put the Yanks ahead 3-0. Four of Swisher's six home runs have come since the calendar turned to May. He is batting .435 this month.Boston got a run back in the bottom of the frame on a David Ortiz sac fly. In addition to Cano's injury the Yankees also have to be concerned about Nick Johnson, who came out o f the game for a pinch hitter in the fifth inning because of soreness in his right wrist. Rodriguez started the six-run sixth with a double to centerfield. Cano reached when he was hit by the Beckett pitch, which made a sickening sound on impact with his knee. He tried to walk it off and even stayed in the game for the beginning of the next at-bat, but came out after two pitches. Brett Gardner was issued a one-out intentional walk to load the bases and bring up Cervelli. When the first close pitch put him on the ground, the Yankees were on top step and angry. Randy Winn singled in another run. Then Jeter was hit by a pitch plating another. Marcus Thames hit a ground ball in the hole between shortstop and third base that Marco Scutaro got to, but his throw was late to third base and Cervelli scored to make it 7-1. Mark Teixeira added a run scoring single to right that sent Beckett backing to the boos of the Fenway fans. He was charged with nine runs for his 5 1/3 innings pitched. He allowed nine hits and three walks and struck out eight. The Red Sox gave Beckett four more years on his contract for a total of $68 million during the first week of the season, but he has not performed well. He is 1-1 with a 7.46 ERA in seven starts. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.113.177.89
