ORLANDO - Forget about any future Joba Chamberlain debates. Even if the
Yankees can't sign Cliff Lee and Andy Pettitte decides to retire, the Bombers
will not revisit using Chamberlain as a starter.

"Joba to the pen," GM Brian Cashman said Tuesday. "We made that decision
after spring training. We're not looking to put it back. We told him in the
spring, 'You're a reliever now.' That's it. He's a reliever, that's our
attitude."

But if the Yankees do have rotation holes to fill, Ivan Nova likely has a
shot at a spot, Cashman said. "He has a good chance of being in our rotation,
regardless," Cashman said. "He's got to earn it still, but he's opened up a
lot of eyes the last couple years, in our organization and outside of the
organization."

Nova was 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in seven games (three starts) with the Yanks
last season. Chamberlain spent last season in the Yankee bullpen after losing
the competition for the fifth starter spot in spring training. He was 3-4
with a 4.40 ERA.
