: Mauer was told about Montero’s insistence about making the majors as a

: “That’s good,” Mauer said. “He might find that everyone wants to throw
: their two cents in. But I really enjoyed the position and that was not going
: to stop me.”
: Montero will be given a chance to make the Yankees in spring training.

    當Mauer聽到Montero堅持以捕手的身分登上大聯盟，他說："這很棒！他可能會發現

: “My advice to him is try and learn as much as you can,” Mauer said. “He’s
: lucky he has Jorge Posada, a pretty good catcher to learn from.
: “And he has Russell Martin there now, too, another good one to help him.
: Those two guys that have been around the block. He should follow those guys
: around and learn as much as he can.”
: When Mauer began his major league career, he made a point of learning
: everything about his pitchers, including how they think. He advises Montero
: to do the same.

: “Know your staff and the little things that they respond to. You have to
: learn the pitchers and what they are capable of doing and not doing. Try to
: put your pitchers in the best situations they can to succeed.”

: The Yankees will be missing a key pitcher after Andy Pettitte announced his
: retirement. But Mauer said the Yankees made a good choice when they signed
: Freddy Garcia. Garcia was 12-6 for the White Sox as Chicago battled the Twins
: for the A.L. Central title last season, falling short.
: “He’s a pitcher who knows what he’s doing,” Mauer said. “He’s been
: around. He battles. He doesn’t have the stuff that he did when he first came
: up. But he’s definitely a competitor.”

    Andy Pettitte宣佈退休的時候洋基一定會覺得少了重要的投手。但Mauer說洋基簽下

Freddy Garcia是下了一步好棋。Garcia去年在拿到白襪12勝6敗，上季與Mauer的雙城

爭奪美聯中區冠軍，不過最終雙城拿下分區第一。

    Mauer說："他是一個知道自己在幹嘛的投手，他見過大場面，他是個鬥士，或許他的

stuff已經不像年輕那樣子了，但他還是很有競爭力"
