[洋基] Nova ready to pick up Hughes' slack? He's confident

With Phil Hughes struggling, Ivan Nova could become even more important.

Some scouts believe he can be a legit No. 3 starter, maybe more.

He may not have a choice this year.


Nova is confident. Asked if there is a toughest hitter in the Red Sox lineup to

face, Nova said no.



"For me, there is not a toughest hitter right now," Nova said. "I'm focused. I

can get anyone out."



Nova pitched against the Red Sox twice last year. In relief on Oct. 2, he took

the loss giving up a run on four hits in 2 1/3 innings at Fenway.


He started once against the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium, taking a loss when he

could only go 4 2/3 innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits.


From his relief appearance at Fenway, he learned an important lesson.

"The first thing is here, you have to keep the ball down," Nova said.
