#Yankees sign 24-year-old RHP Reinier Casanova, a Cuban defector.

Reinier Casanova is the son of Leovigildo Casanova and the nephew of Luis
Casanova.
Reinier was 3-3 with a save and a 6.47 ERA for Pinar del Rio in 2007-2008. He
improved to 6-5 with four saves and a 3.22 ERA in 21 games in the
hitter-friendly league in 2008-2009. The right-hander then defected from Cuba.
