The Nationals agreed to terms with catcher Adrian Nieto, the club's
fifth-round selection in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. He is expected to
receive a $376,000 signing bonus.
The plan is for Nieto to report to the Nationals' Gulf Coast League affiliate
on Tuesday.
During a conference call with the Washington media on Sunday afternoon, Nieto
acknowledged there were tough negotiations between the two parties, but he is
happy to be part of the organization. If talks had broken down, Nieto was
planning to go to junior college.
