A day after pitching one shutout inning for the US Team in the XM Futures
Game, Nationals right-hander Brad Peacock was promoted from Double A
Harrisburg to Triple A Syracuse on Monday.

Peacock is tentatively scheduled to pitch his first game for Syracuse on
Saturday against Lehigh Valley. Peacock is also expected attend the Eastern
League All-Star game this week, but he will not pitch in the game.

Peacock is the best pitching prospect in the Nationals’ organization. So
much so that by 2013, Peacock is expected to be the No. 3 starter in the
rotation behind Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmermann.

Like Strasburg and Zimmermann, Peacock is a power pitcher and has the stats
to back it up. He was 10-2 with a 2.01 ERA for Harrisburg. Even more
impressive, Peacock has struck out 129 batters in 98 2/3 innings.

“This guy has taken the ball every fifth day and just went out there and has
dominated, no matter who is the opponent was,” Harrisburg manager Tony
Beasley said. “He is almost to the point where he is feared. When he comes
out, you know how he is going to pitch and you still can’t hit it. He is
going to challenge you with fastballs 90 percent of the time and get a lot of
swings and misses.”
