Cubs look to keep it clean as they host Nationals

While the Cubs' seven-game winning streak may have been snapped Sunday, they
enter Monday's series opener against the Nationals at Wrigley Field knowing
exactly what it takes to be successful.

"We've played pretty clean baseball," Cubs manager Mike Quade said. "We've
complemented the pitching with a pretty good couple of weeks of defense, and
that's been a plus, too.

win. It marked his first victory since June 27 against the Rockies.

hits, Wang tossed five innings.

manager Davey Johnson likes what he's been seeing.

Entering Sunday's finale against the Rockies, Ankiel has hit at a .357 clip
through the first week of August.
