Jayson Werth was declared the winner of today's presidents race.

Jayson Werth's disdain for Teddy Roosevelt's losing ways in the nightly
presidents race at Nationals Park is well-documented. Earlier this season,
the veteran right fielder openly campaigned for the club to let Teddy win a
race for the first time ever, suggesting that might actually help the
Nationals start winning more games.

鬍子哥對於泰迪(老羅斯福，以下簡稱泰迪)沒贏過宗痛賽跑感覺不是很爽，在球季
的早些時候，這個右外野老將發起"讓泰迪贏"運動，也提出這或許可以讓國民隊
多贏幾場比賽。

This afternoon, Werth finally decided to get into the act himself in what
ultimately proved to be a fruitless attempt to get Teddy across the finish
line first.

在證明讓泰迪跨越終點線是徒勞無功，鬍子最後決定在今天下午進行他的行動。

When the middle of the fourth inning between the Nationals and Braves
arrived, Werth and center fielder Rick Ankiel waited around for the
presidents to emerge, then tried to hold off Thomas Jefferson from taking the
lead. Several members of the Nationals bullpen also joined in, leading to a
scrum of flailing bodies and giant foam heads in the right-field corner.

Alas, Teddy fell down and never had a chance to pull off the victory. Neither
did any of his fellow presidents, who gave up on the race and departed
through the stands.

泰迪跌倒了沒機會獲得勝利，其他總統也放棄了比賽。

Werth ultimately decided to jog across the finish line himself, and with arms
raised was declared the winner of the race (even though he didn't seem
willing to accept the designation).

鬍子小跑步過了終點線，並被大會宣布成為勝利者。

"Well, if Teddy can't win, then no one wins in my book," Werth said following
the Nationals' 4-1 victory over Atlanta. "I'm the last remaining member of
the Bull Moose Party, I guess. I don't really know what else to say."

鬍子：「假如泰迪不能贏，其他人也別想贏，哈哈哈。」他在國民以4:1擊敗勇士後
如此說。「我想我是泰迪最後的支持者了，我不知道還能說什麼。」

Asked if he and his teammates had informed the racing presidents of their
plan in advance, Werth played coy.

"I can't really comment," he said. "When you stage a coup, it's better to
keep it quiet."

「我不能多說能麼，」他說。「當你要發動政變的時候，最好是保持沉默。」

With only Sunday's home finale remaining, Abe Lincoln currently leads
Jefferson 30-29 in the season race standings. George Washington has clinched
third place with 23 victories.

林肯以30勝領先傑佛遜的29勝，華盛頓以23勝排名第三。

Teddy, as always, remains winless.

泰迪還是沒能贏。
