Fulham goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar believes not being one of the
favourites for Euro 2004 could work in Holland's favour.
The Dutch failed the reach the last World Cup, were beaten semi-
finalists in 1998 and also lost in the last four of Euro 2000.
Van der Sar told the club's official website: "I don't think we'll
be one of the favourites for once and maybe that's a good thing for
us.
"I think the last three tournaments we've played in we've been one
of the so-called "big" sides - certainly in France 98 and Euro 2000
in Holland and Belgium.
"But this summer I think there are some much better teams than us,
which may mean we get treated like outsiders which could really help.
It takes the pressure off and that could help us develop the team a
little bit more."
