Ajax trainer Ronald Koeman says he is not afraid that his talented
young players will be robbed from the club by European top outfits
although "It's a fact that you want to become better when you look
ahead to next season. The average age of our team makes that difficult.
Maybe we want too much, too fast. My gut feeling tells me that everybody
wants to stay. Now we have time to speak with every player and we
should have a better picture then. I want to add a right winger to
the squad. The first option is still Andy van der Meyde although I
think that that won't be an easy task," said Koeman.
According to reports in Holland Ajax and Inter held talks last weekend
over a transfer of the former Ajax ace and a deal could well be clinched
within a few weeks.
Technical director Louis van Gaal has confirmed that the newly-crowned
Dutch champions are on the look-out for a new right-sided winger and
confirmed that Van der Meyde is the club's number one target but were
also considering bringing back former wingers Marc Overmars and Jesper
Gronkjaer.
