1. Orioles manager Dave Trembley met with pitcher Daniel Cabrera on Saturday,
one day after the right-hander threw an inside fastball to Boston's Dustin
Pedroia that nearly started a brawl. Trembley said he told Cabrera his
actions were ``uncalled for, unprofessional, no need to do it.'' Told that
Cabrera said the pitch slipped from his grasp, Trembley replied: ``The dog
ate my homework, too.''
2. The Orioles will probably decide Sunday whether to shut down LHP Erik Bedard
for the season. Bedard, who hasn't pitched since Aug. 26, has a strained
muscle in his right side.
3. Jon Leicester received his second major league start Saturday, the first
with the Orioles. He started for the Chicago Cubs in 2005 against the New
York Mets.
