前幾天的dooling歡迎會
Otis的部分不翻了，因為沒有什麼特別的。但是Dooling說的卻是很有意思，老實說，如
果他不是有備而來，那我還真想投他當下一球季球隊隊長一票。不知道他能夠帶來多少
東西，但至少他在這場記者會表現的相當好。

OTIS SMITH

“Welcome everyone. I would like to introduce everyone to Keyon Dooling. We are
excited for what Keyon Dooling will bring to our team – different looks than
what we have had before… size, someone who can defend the ball, knock down a
jumper, and he is an all-around good kid to have on our team. He is a good mix
for what we already have and I think he is someone who we can continue to
build around.”

Q:Why Keyon?

“It gives us a different look, size-wise. He and Steve are comparable in size.
Keyon is an athletic player and he can defend up the floor 94 feet, and he can
knock down a jumper. Being close to Florida, the Florida boy that I am, I kind
of like that too.”

Q:Now that you have your guards in place, what is your priority for free agent
signings?

“We still need to add a big – that is still a goal and hasn’t changed. That is where out focus is right now. We are spending a lot of time on the phone trying to make that happen. With the resources we have we think we will be able to attract what we need and it is just a matter of making that decision. Dave, Brian and myself will sit down and make a decision on it. We are not in a hurry to do it – it is not one of those things we need to hurry up and do today. It is one of those things where we can
wait and make sure we get the best player that is out there.”

Q:Is Fran past tense for this season?

“I think we have moved beyond that. Dave met with him yesterday and had a
pretty good meeting with him. I think we have come to the realization that Fran
is going to stay at least this year and play in Spain. We are going to continue
to build our relationship and we will get Fran over here when Fran is mentally
ready. A lot of things went into Fran’s decision to stay, so a lot of things
were going into his decision to come here. Because we finished 36-46, we are
making a bigger deal out of Fran

Q:Vasquez as opposed to making a bigger deal out of Jameer Nelson,Dwight Howard
, Grant Hill – the guys who are going to play the majority of the minutes for
you. So those are the guys we should be making a bigger deal out of –the Keyon
Doolings, not the Fran Vazquez’s.Peja Stojakovic took five years before he got
here and he turned out to be a pretty good player. And the same team that drafted
him five years before he got here was the same team he ended up playing for. I
think you draft players to build for the future, and he is still a part of our
future.”

Q:Do you think the Fran situation will effect how teams draft international
players?

“I think it started with the Olympics. It started with the lack of success of
Darko Milicic over here in our game. The Dirk Nowitzkis have had some success
but there are a lot of international players who haven’t. Guys are getting a
little skittish at time, you can see that. But their game is not as good as our
game, their pay is around the same amount of pay, and the kid gets to play in
his own country. The lure of the NBA is still there, but if a kid has an
opportunity to play at home, I think you will see more General Managers and
teams around the league taking a stronger look at how they draft. Not only this
would affect it, but the high school situation where you can’t draft a kid
until he is 19 will affect the draft. There are different things that are going
to affect the draft in the coming years.”


KEYON DOOLING
Q:Keyon，是什麼讓你下定決心來到這邊呢?

這對我來說是不用多想的事情，他們對我感到興趣，那個球隊邁進的目標，有個打球的機
會而且有些是很特別的。我們想要重回到之前當Brain Hill教練第一次到這邊時組織的光
榮時刻，這是個在進展的工作，但是我想我們會讓某些事情發生的。

Q:你過去有沒有想過當魔術隊選你的時候你會成為他們的一部分呢?

我希望我能夠回到那些日子，但每件事情發生都會有他的原因。每個已經發生的事情讓我
準備迎接這時間點。我已經準備好展開我生涯的下一個步驟了，而哪裡有比奧蘭多更
好的地方呢。這是個從谷底爬升的組織，這座城市很棒而且你有太多事要做了，而這裡也
是個成家的好地方。所以我期待這邊，而且這邊很接近我老家。我是個如Otis說的佛州出
身的小孩，所以這真的很幸運。

Q:你想你現在是在生涯中成為先發的的那個階段了嗎?

我在任何地方都有些可以先發的機會，但是有些事情是我要努力的。每件我過去做過的事
情所以讓我有現在這個位置，因此這是我該有的機會。我知道這不是為我而做的所以我必
須要為了它而努力練習。但，這是我願意去做的。你必須要一直努力而且當你已經有些成
果之後你還要更努力多些。我很期待跟這些隊友在一起而且贏的勝利，每個人都想要跟勝
利有關係，而我當然也是其中之一。

Q:你離開了一隻冠軍實力的球員，所以那讓你成為先發的機會是不是你來這邊的主要原因?

在我生涯的這個時間，勝利的確是最高目標，但同時我要確定我能夠照顧我的家庭，金錢
上對我來說是個很好的機會，籃球面上來看這對我是個很好的機會，對我的家庭也是個很
好的機會。這對我來說是個很簡單的決定--這不像是拔牙或出賣我老婆跑到奧蘭多，這真
的是個很簡單的決定，當我來到這邊且和Hill教練以及Otis會面時，我們在參觀時都有很
好的感覺，我很高興每件事情都有了好的結果而且他們給我這個機會成為組織的一部分。

Q:你想你會是個把球傳給每個人的後衛嗎?

我想我會讓每個人都感到快樂的，你有一群可以把球放進洞的好手，但是在聯盟中不是這
樣子贏球的。你必須要盡每一分防守去獲勝，你必須要去追每個失誤的球--我們必須要贏
得推擠的籃板，這些比得分還重要，我來來這些心智，但我願意去做些苦差事，我願意去
守更厲害的那個後衛，所以我們可以讓Steve多點力氣在進攻上。讓我來負責這些挑戰性
的防守工作。如果每個人都接受他們的角色而且站在同艘船上，我想我們有機會成為一隻
好球隊。

Q:你認為你到目前為止和你是菜鳥的比賽最大不同點在哪邊?

我想是在學習--比賽已經在我眼前跑過好多次了。當你剛進到聯盟時你是時速100，你很興
奮，你沒看過那麼多種防守戰術當你身為個控球後衛，你看到各種不同的事情。現在，我
已經看過他們所以我知道該如何反應。就像反射動作--只要分析比賽，學習，變成個聰明
的球員，就會有很多好的經驗和好的訓練成果。

Q:你早先跟別隊有沒有快要完成合約的情形呢?

那不重要，很明顯的有些球隊是有這打算。但這是個各方面都非常適合我的地方。這是為
何我來這邊的原因。我想我會到這邊是神因為某個理由把我放在這邊，所以我就順著感覺
來走，我真的非常興奮關於這個機會而且我已經開始準備好開工了。

Q:去年後段比賽是不是讓你的信心抬昇許多呢?

我想在明星賽後的確讓我的信心抬昇許多。我和些非常好的球員，而他們對我非常有信心
。一但你開始執行戰術你開始拿到球和你開始能有更多機會打球。在季後賽，我能夠盡我
自己的去比賽，而我只希望能來到這邊建立像那樣的情形。

Q:你想Fran的缺席對於魔術隊有什麼影響?

我對於他的比賽不熟悉--我沒有太多機會看他的比賽。但是很明顯的我們有人對他是有很
高的期待，但到底他可能在今年是不會過來比賽，所以我們要善用我們現有的東西，但我
祝福他。

Q:你有沒有看夠Howard，你想他在未來會成為怎樣的球員?

我對於這個年輕隊友感到的非常印相深刻。幾乎很少你能夠看到一個年輕但有技巧和運動
力還有工作的意願力。他不是那個在那邊緩慢移動的--他能在場飛奔、搶籃板、敲火鍋，
做好細節的事情來幫助球隊獲勝。這小子的前途不可限量，他絕對是非常的特別--我可以
看到他真的會是非常的特別。

Brain Hill

Q:你看該如何讓他跟Steve共事呢?

當我們在爭取Keyon時，我們在心中有些事情。第一個我想他對我們來說是個有經驗的球員
，能夠開始成為個如他願的球員。他給我們體型和運動力這是我們在找尋的部分，還有可
能更重要的部分就是防守的心態，這是我們要改善這支球隊的部分。當我們和Keyon會面
時，我跟他說他將會有機會來競爭這個先發的位置。我還沒有決定Francis會在1號還是2號
位置來先發，我和Steve有些談話過了--他是個籃球員而我確定他最後將會打這兩個位置。
我們要到訓練營時再來決定然後看看我們的後衛群表現有多好，和怎樣對我們來說才是最
好的因為我們希望能盡力去成為隻最成功的球隊。

Q:Vazquez的情形會讓你們以後再挑選西班牙球員時感到遲疑嗎?

不我不會這樣認為>我們不會從人種的觀點來看一個球員,我會以籃球員來看每個球員，不
管他是西班牙、非洲、美洲、南美洲、還是俄羅斯--如果他們有本事那就是有本事。Fran
的決定對於我們再次去挑選西班牙球員是不會有關係的。
