Ryan Anderson finally feeling comfortable with role, expectations

Even on a night when Ryan Anderson led the Orlando Magic in scoring — for
the first time in his Magic career, by the way — the 22-year-old power
forward couldn’t take the credit.

Anderson led the Magic with 20 points in their thrilling 99-98 overtime
victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night, carrying the Magic at
times with his three-point shooting and ability to post up smaller defenders.

He’s feeling as confident as he’s ever felt in the NBA – and he quickly
deflects that confidence to his teammates.

“I’m shooting the ball with some more confidence,” Anderson said. “These
guys have confidence in me, which helps. Obviously I’m playing a little bit

Anderson, who’s constantly shuffled in and out of the lineup in his
one-and-a-half season with the Magic, is finally getting consistent minutes
since returning from a foot injury Dec. 23.

才得到穩定的出場時間。

In the last seven games, Anderson’s played between 20 and 30 minutes and
scored between 11 and 20 points in each of those games (that data is much
more digestible in the chart below the jump).

It’s the first time in Orlando Anderson knows exactly what the team needs
from him.

“I definitely have a little bit more security with how many minutes I’m
going to play,” said Anderson, who received 19 DNP-CDs last season. “I know
that I need to go out and contribute, and it always helps a player having
some more of a consistent role. Just having consistent minutes… that has
really helped me a lot.”

As the Magic were struggling against the Sixers — the unbelievable finish
helped mask an otherwise ugly offensive performance — Anderson was the most
consistent producer.

“Ryan’s been playing great the last couple of games for us,” Richardson
said. “We need his energy, his effort like that every time he’s on the
