Major triad chords for guitar ( R + 3 + 5 )
Triads are chords containing three notes: the root, third and fifth.
Ex: C = C + E + G, F = F + A + C, G = G + B + D
Minor triad chords for guitar ( R + b3 + 5 )
Triads are chords containing three notes: the root, third and fifth. Minor
triads are similar to major triads except for a minor third.
Ex: Dm = D + F + A, Em = E + G + B, Am = A + C + E
Suspended(sus) chords for guitar ( R + 4 + 5 )
Sus4 chords have no third, which is "suspended" (sus = suspended) and
replaced by a fourth. A variant of the sus-chord is the sus2, where the third
is replaced with a second. The sus-chords are neither major nor minor chords.
Ex: Csus4 = C + F + G, Gsus4 = G + C + D
maj7 chords for guitar ( R + 3 + 5 + 7 )
The maj7 chord is a major triad plus a major seventh (maj7 = major seventh).
Ex: Cmaj7(CM7) = C + E + G + B, Fmaj7(FM7) = F + A + C + E
7th chords for guitar ( R + 3 + 5 + b7 )
The 7th chords are chords made up of a major triad plus a minor seventh, also
known as dominant seventh chords.
Ex: G7 = G + B + D + F
Minor 7th chords for guitar ( R + b3 + 5 + b7 )
The minor seventh chord is a minor triad plus a minor seventh.
Ex: Dm7 = D + F + A + C, Em7 = E + G + B + D, Am7 = A + C + E + G
