In The lord of the Rings movies, the hobbits live in comfortable holes bene-
ath green, grassy hills in a peaceful land of slow-moving streams. The kingd-
om of Rohan, on the other hand, is a wonderful land of snowcapped mountains,
deep valleys, and grasslands that stretch as far as far as the eye can see.
Hobbiton and Rohan are beautiful parts of the imaginary world of Middle Earth.
But in reality, these amazing places are located in New Zealand.

the Waitomo Caves. Located on the South Island, the inside of these caves is
lit up by the bright blue light of thousands of glowworms. The caves can only
be reached by boat, and travelers must remain silent, as the smallest noise
will disturb the glowworms and dim their light.
Visitors to New Zealand can see geye\sers, which shoot water more than 30
meters in the air. There are also mud pools, which make strange sounds as ste-
am rises to the surface. It's said that sitting in the hot mud for 15 minutes
can restore a fighter's strength, or a woman's beauty.
After a busy day of sightseeing, you can enjoy a traditional feast with the
Maori, New Zealand's native people. At these lively feasts, the Maori often
prepare fish with tea-tree honey, and bake purple potatoes and bids on red-hot
stones underground. As you toast your new friends with cups of fruit wine,
you'll experience a real party--- Maori style.
