Say Yes to Taiwan's Bid to WHO
Please support Taiwan’s inclusion in the WHO by allowing
Taiwan observer status when the World Health Assembly meets
on May 16, 2005 in Geneva.
Taiwan should be included in the WHO since Taiwan qualifies as
an independent and sovereign state with a defined territory,
a permanent population, an effective government, and a capacity
to enter into relations with other states.
The WHO has a responsibility to the Taiwanese people to ensure that
its government and health professionals are given direct and
unobstructed access to vital health information, particularly
in the prevention and spread of deadly diseases such as SARS, HIV/AIDS
and Avian Flu.
Taiwan’s continued exclusion from the WHO places the health of not only
the Taiwanese but also the entire global community at risk. On behalf of
the 23 million Taiwanese we request support for Taiwan’s bid to enter
the WHO
