There was a time when we weren't totally convinced that Amar'e Stoudemire
was a player that the Suns could build their future around.

曾經有那麼一段時間，我們都對於Amare能不能做為球隊未來重建的基石
產生了懷疑。



Now we're convinced that the Suns are going to be very sorry if they don't.

現在我們相信，如果太陽隊還不能清楚的認知這一點會是件非常遺憾的事情。


Stoudemire has earned it, plain and simple.

顯而易見的，阿罵重新贏回了我們對他的信心和尊敬。


It's easy enough to suggest that his resurgence since the All-Star
break is all about playing for a new contract.

現在最為明瞭的可能原因當然就是阿罵在明星賽後就一直吵著要的，他的新合約。


And we wouldn't rule that out as a factor, despite his statement
in an interview with KTAR-AM that anybody who thinks that is "out
of their mind."

同時我們也不會排除這種情況的一個因素是，因為他在接受採訪時的發言
讓任何人都覺得這實在是「出乎意料之外」



He wouldn't be human if he wasn't hurt by the trade rumors every year
and motivated to show the rest of the NBA what he's worth just in case
the Suns don't see it.

如果不是因為年復一年的交易傳聞一再的傷害他、也激勵了他在NBA休季的時候更
加努力於證明自己的價值(而那是太陽所看不到的)，那麼他現在也不會變得如此
成熟。



But isn't it also possible that, after undergoing delicate eye surgery
that left him virtually immobile, Stoudemire has just played himself
back into shape, shaken off the rust and regained his confidence?

但是，我們是不是也可以說，正因為這個細微的眼睛手術帶來的影響，使得阿罵
不得不靜養，在此情況下孤單的面對自我的形狀，才能抖落身上所有的鐵鏽，從
而找回那個他身上原本的信心？




Isn't it also possible that, as Steve Nash asserted not long ago,
Stoudemire has made tremendous strides in terms of really learning
and understanding basketball and what it takes to be a great teammate?

是不是也有可能，因為Nash在不久前所提到的，Amare已經在許多方面取得了進步，
例如在更加勤奮的學習和了解籃球，而且努力成為一個更好的、可靠的「隊友」？



Besides, there is so much more to what Stoudemire has done in a Suns
uniform than just half of this season.

此外，阿罵在剩下的賽季，穿上太陽制服所做到的事情也不僅僅於此。


From the first time Stoudemire worked out for the Suns before the 2002 draft,
when Jerry Colangelo told his basketball people "this is the guy," Stoudemire
has been proving himself.

從第一次阿罵來到太陽的時候，那是2002年的選秀會之前。老柯就告訴他的籃球事務
夥伴們：「這就是那個我要的傢伙。」阿罵在他面前證明了他自己。




Sure there is risk.

一切當然有風險。

But there was risk when the Suns drafted Stoudemire.

但即使有風險，太陽依舊選來了Amare。 



His background was downright frightening, and if it weren't for questions
about that, then he never would have been available with the ninth pick,
where the Suns stole him.

當然阿罵的背景聽起來是蠻可怕的，但如果不是對此那麼有疑問的話，他也不會在
第九順位的時候，被太陽偷到手。


Instead of being a detriment to him, Stoudemire's background became a
source of strength - just another opponent to prove he could beat.

而阿罵的出身，做為一個不利的因素，反而更督促他繼續成長。
──這只是另一個對手，而他只需要證明他能再次擊敗對方。


Then there was that microfracture knee procedure.
Shawn Marion had one early in his career, and the Suns once gave him a
maximum contract.

另外就是膝蓋的微骨折手術。
在他加入太陽的之前，隊中已經有了一個Shawn Marion，太陽也給了他與他的身價
相襯的合約。



Marion's knee never became a long-term problem, and he was a fine,
versatile player.

香妹的膝蓋從來沒有受過嚴重的傷害。他是一個優秀、多才多藝的好球員。



But if you had to choose between Marion in his prime and Stoudemire,
who is just entering his, which would you choose?

但如果有一天，當你要在巔峰時期的香妹跟阿罵之間做出取捨，那麼你願意選擇哪
一個球員？


We'd take Stoudemire, a 6-foot-9 power forward who can outrun, out-quick
and outjump anybody at his position in the league, hands down.

我們會選擇阿罵。一個六尺九吋的大前鋒，可以有效的、快速的、具彈跳力且可以
把每一個擅闖禁區──他的管區的任何人守下來。

Players with Stoudemire's talent and entertainment value are rare -
and not cheap.

當一個運動員擁有了阿罵這樣的天賦，那麼意味的便不單單只是可以帶來娛樂價值，
同時也是十分昂貴的。


It isn't any coincidence that the Suns have seen their home attendance
creeping steadily upward in the second half of the season. They're winning,
and Stoudemire has been spectacular.

沒有任何意外的，太陽隊看到他們的排名在下半季穩穩的上升。
而在他們持續贏球的同時，阿罵的表現也越來越令人嘆為觀止。



He averaged 27.3 points and 9.9 rebounds in March to win the NBA's
Western Conference Player of the Month honor as the team went 12-2.
Entering Sunday night's game against Houston he had scored 30 points
or more in seven of the team's past 17 games.

他平均每場27.3分和9.9個籃板 3月贏得了NBA西部最佳球員的榮譽
也帶領了球隊打出一波12-2的高潮。
截至週日晚上對火箭的比賽為止，
他的得分在過去的17場比賽中有七場達到了30分以上。


Would the Suns be winning and would attendance be rising if Stoudemire
had been shipped out at the trade deadline?

如果阿罵真的在交易截止前被太陽換了出去，那麼太陽還能有現在的高昇嗎？

Stoudemire is 27 years old with career averages of more than 21 points
and almost nine rebounds a game.

二十七歲的阿罵，生涯平均每場可以攻下21分，並搶下約9個籃板球。

He has improved defensively, particularly in terms of understanding
team defense. He has become a more-vocal leader. He has picked up his
rebounding effort, which always has been the biggest knock against his game.



他已經證明了他在籃板球方面的努力。尤其是對於團隊防守理解的進步。
他開始往一個更有能力的領導者前進，也試著摘下每一顆在他面前的籃板球
那些都是他常常被詬病的地方。



We're reminded of something else Colangelo said when Stoudemire
came back for a second workout before that 2002 draft.

於是我們想起了當2002年，阿罵第二次回到季前訓練營時，老柯所說的一番話。

"I don't know what it is you think I need to see,"
Colangelo said at the time, "but I've seen enough."


「我不知道你們覺得我需要看到什麼。」老柯在這時說了：「但我覺得我所看到的已經
足夠了。」

So have we. No matter what happens in the playoffs, don't let him go.

我們也是。所以，不管即將到來的季後賽打得如何，請留下Amare，不要讓他走。
