[外電] Phoenix Suns' R.Lopez could be missing link against LA

話說這是小弟頭一次翻外電，而且我英文又很破，大家就將就點看吧。囧>

Basketball players lie about their size. They'll add a couple of inches to
their listed height. They'll play defense with their arms in the air. They'll
do anything possible to seem taller.

Not Robin Lopez. He hunches over when he runs. He swoops down when he plays
defense, like a brontosaurus lowering its head from the trees. His body
language suggests a young man who hasn't always been comfortable as a 7-foot
specimen towering over the crowd.

And yet he was not at all out of place in the Suns' biggest game of the
season.

"Maybe he's not aware that we're in the Western Conference finals," Suns
assistant coach Bill Cartwright said.

Or maybe he's the missing link.


也許Lopez正是太陽對抗湖人所缺少的一環。


There are many explanations for the Suns' crucial victory in Game 3. Amar'e
Stoudemire went off like a bottle rocket. Kobe Bryant said he hadn't seen
that much zone defense since "my shorts fell down from being too big."


有很多原因可以解釋太陽在Game 3所拿下的重要勝利，阿罵就像失控的火箭砲一樣，

而Kobe也表示，從他成人以來，他還沒看過這麼多的區域聯防。


Fooled by the ease of their first two victories, the Lakers mistakenly
believed they were a great 3-point shooting team, and shot themselves out of
the game.

"There's a reason why some guys are open," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said.
"Those guys who are open and took some of those shots have to figure out why
they're open."


前兩場輕鬆的勝利，讓湖人以為他們自己是支厲害的三分球投射球隊，

In short, nobody on the Lakers wanted to give any credence to a real Phoenix
uprising. That's OK. It's better this way.

True Suns fans know better. They know the season didn't shift when the light
bulb went on inside's Stoudemire's skull. It occurred when Lopez became the
starting center, changing the game entirely for his teammates.


湖人的隊員裡，沒人認為太陽能繼續高升，不過這樣最好。

Lopez clogs the lane, occupies big players, and gives his team a much-needed
streak of nasty. Stoudemire is often the beneficiary, and in many ways, the
Suns' breakout performance in Game 3 mirrored their sudden maturation over
the second half of the season. It all gets back to the big guy.

"We kind of open the lane for each other," Lopez said about his impact on
Stoudemire. "And we talked before the game. We just wanted to make sure we
were aggressive out there."

As some members of the national media discovered on Monday, Lopez is a tough
subject. He speaks in clipped sentences. He doesn't smile or engage in small
talk. He approaches incoming questions with suspicion and intensity, just as
he does incoming point guards. He comes off as a bit rude, and I'm guessing
Derek Fisher would agree.

Yet earlier in the season, Lopez agreed to do an online chat for a local
website devoted to the Suns. He stayed for over two hours, typing away
answers in secluded bliss, fully comfortable in the online community. The
chat finally ended, but only when the host had to leave for a dentist
appointment.

So, will Lopez continue to make a difference in this series? Gentry said
Lopez is only 75 percent healthy after missing 20 games because of a bulging
disk in his back, but Lopez said he had "no soreness, no pain" after his
30-minute stint in Game 3, and seems eager for more.

Given the tenuous state of Andrew Bynum's knee, the series now features an
interesting contrast in centers that seem to be moving in opposite
directions. Will their teams follow suit?


所以Lopez會不會繼續在這個系列賽中做出一些突破呢？

"He's got great size, his picks are really an asset for (Steve) Nash to use,
and he did some things shooting the ball early in the game that surprised
us," Jackson said.

Here's what I liked most: Once upon a time, Raja Bell became a cult-like
figure in Phoenix for showing no fear against the Lakers. Lopez knew he was
going to get extended minutes on Sunday, but was not at all jittery or
rattled. He looked like he relished the moment, attacking the rim like an
angry giant and shooting the ball like Eddie Johnson. And that's a stark
contrast to the backup center.

impact of Brook Lopez.
"He's a twin, isn't he? His brother can play. He's got to (be able) to do
something, right?" Bryant said.

Don't fret. One more impact game from Lopez, and everyone will get his name
right.


一個記者問到Kobe，Lopez哥對他弟弟的影響。

Kobe則表示，B.Lopez有能力做到的事，他弟弟也一樣做得到。


別擔心，接下來R.Lopez將會繼續在比賽中大展身手，而世人也將記得他的名字。
