[外電] Phoenix Suns working to plug holes in the defense

If there are enough small leaks, a sink can ship.

The Suns seemed to have improved their NBA-worst defense for a game and a
half, but that problem burst again in a second-half collapse Sunday night at
Sacramento.

The rebounding void was worse than ever. Even the potent offense struggled in
a close-game situation again, an issue that existed before they traded top
scorer Jason Richardson.

that comes," Suns coach Alvin Gentry said. "We've got to get the water
stopped from coming at all."

Even as the defensive progress dissolved in Sacramento's 55 percent shooting
second half Sunday, victory would have been well in hand with a 12-point lead
and 5:51 to go with any semblance of offense. Instead, the Suns shot 1 for 7
and committed two turnovers, missing jumpers and scoring only on a layup out
of a timeout.

就算國王下半場55%的命中顯得我們的防守這麼破爛，本來這場比賽還是可以拿下的。

"They were open jump shots, but we have to be able to attack the basket some
and get guys to the (free-throw) line," Gentry said. "We have to have someone
that we can throw the ball to in the post area that we can count on either
getting us a basket or getting to the foul line."

「那些跳投的確是空檔，但是我們應該試著去攻擊籃框，把人送上罰球線。」

Gentry said Vince Carter or Grant Hill can be that player on drives or post
mismatches. He said Steve Nash, their best shooter, also knows he could have
been more aggressive Sunday. Nash did not take a shot in seven fourth-quarter
minutes after going 8 for 8. Against traps, Nash passed to open shooters.

"When you don't make them, I look back and say, 'I should've been more
aggressive,' " Nash said. "They could've easily gone in and we win by 10."

教練認為Hill跟VC應該可以扮演這樣的角色，弄些mismatches，還有老大我們最棒的射手

應該要打得更有攻擊性，他第四節都沒有出手，而是選擇了把球分出去給空檔射手們。

The Suns also are taking bad shots to beat the shot clock more than they have
in years.

"We're not the most-confident team right now," Gentry said.

太陽在ＢＢ得出手選擇比去年更差

教練：「我們現在不是最有自信的隊伍。」

The Suns miss Channing Frye's usual 3-point success, which spreads the floor.
He has shot 33.7 percent from the field in the past nine games. His 18
minutes Sunday were the fewest he has played since October.

"We're a much better offensive team when he's making shots for us, and he's
struggled this year," Gentry said.

Just when the Suns had gone to more small lineups for a boost, they get
outrebounded 60-32 on Sunday and now will face the Lakers' Pau Gasol, Andrew
Bynum and Lamar Odom on Wednesday.

Even as the worst-rebounding team, the Suns had not been beat by more than 18
on the boards until Sunday. A smaller lineup's mobility or speed could play
to team strengths.

"We're trying to figure those out right now," Hill said of a team in a 3-9
rut.

太陽的陣容有點矮小　還要帶著狂輸２８個板的籃板能力迎接噁心的湖人禁區

即使是籃板能力差到天下無雙，太陽也沒有狂輸１８個籃板以上－－直到本周日。

小陣容的機動性和速度是希望能讓隊伍打得比較有韌性（這句不太確定）
