SALT LAKE CITY - The Suns bench is scoring more this season than any of the
past six second units.

But even though its 38 points per game is better than last season's 33.2
scoring average, nobody was convinced that these reserves were having the
same effect as last season's.

That has begun to change during the recent turnaround, most notably with the
emergence of center Marcin Gortat and recently with the reinsertion of
Mickael Pietrus.

"The second unit is getting used to each other," said Channing Frye, who
moved back into the starting lineup 16 games ago (11-5).

extended the lead in five consecutive first halves while having some
offensive struggles in some fourth quarters.

"There hasn't been a huge drop-off with the second unit," Suns reserve

defensively to add another element and another 3-point shooter. I think I've
shot the ball well. Z (Zabian Dowdell) has come in and not done too much and
got everybody involved."

the oldest point-guard counterpart Nash had faced in 11 games.

Nash had not faced a starting point guard in his 30s since 14 games ago
against Portland's Andre MIller. Nash turned 37 on Monday and is the NBA's
seventh oldest player.

"There's no reason with everything I've learned about training, diet and
