Nearly everything the Suns tried seemed to work Friday night, when they
started a six-game road trip with a dominant 110-92 victory over the Toronto
Raptors at Air Canada Centre.

Canada's NBA team remains winless in 13 tries against its favorite basketball
son, Nash, since he returned to Phoenix in 2004. Nash made only 2 of 12 shots
but carved up Toronto for seven of his 11 assists in a tone-setting first
quarter. The Suns have won Nash's past seven visits to Air Canada Centre by
an average of 13 points.

The Suns (29-27) moved to two games above .500 for the first time since Dec.
5. Even with going 14-7 with their current starters, the Suns remain in 10th
place in the West (the top eight make the playoffs). They have 26 games to
get back to the playoffs, even though only five players remain from the 2010
conference finals team.

As much as Nash was cheered Friday, Carter was jeered in the city where fans
feel he quit on them after 6 1/2 seasons to start his career. Carter was
aggressive at both ends, tying a career high with six steals and grabbing
seven rebounds. Offensively, he shared the scoring lead with Marcin Gortat
with 17 points, including 11 in the first quarter off two drives, an
alley-oop, a spin move and a 3-pointer.

Carter did not play in Friday's fourth quarter because of how well he played
in the first quarter, when his 11 points and four steals helped the Suns
match their largest first-quarter lead (35-14) of the season.

Gentry sat Carter out in four of the previous five fourth quarters.

with that. I don't really care about minutes or points. I'm just trying to be
productive."

The Suns defense continued its turnaround, limiting Toronto to 6-of-20

46-22 be cut in half (60-48) early in the third quarter. The Suns then held
Toronto without a field goal for nearly five minutes, a span that included
