Phoenix Suns update:

Matt Janning's NBA dream ended through no fault of his own in November but he
is fighting to keep it alive with how he has played in the D-League since
being waived by the Suns.

Janning is playing for a D-League championship tonight for the Rio Grande
Valley Vipers in the deciding Game 3 at Iowa, ironically the Suns' affiliate
team even though Phoenix does not have a player there. The game tips off at 5
p.m. PST but will air at 10 p.m. on Versus.

Janning played well in Games 1 and 2, scoring 31 points and grabbing 14
rebounds in the two games combined. The combo guard has averaged 13.0 points,
5.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists with 39.5 percent 3-point shooting in seven
playoff games.

The Suns waived Janning on Nov. 16 when they signed Earl Barron to replace
injured center Robin Lopez. Janning had quite a run to make the roster, going
from a player who was undrafted to having Boston try to snatch him away from
Phoenix during the summer. Janning made the Suns' regular season roster over
Zabian Dowdell because of his potential and height to man two positions. He
was going to have to improve his strength, ball-handling and defensive speed
to stick.

"I was hurt," Janning said of being waived. "It was the first time I was cut
in my life. It makes you realize there's a business side to professional
sports. It was a whole learning experience with the Suns and it was awesome
from the start to the end. It was a blessing in disguise because I got to
play more in the D-League."

Janning initially went to Maine, where he shot 46.4 percent on 3s in 20
games. Maine traded him to Rio Grande Valley, where he averaged 10.0 points
with 38.8 percent 3-point shooting in 20 games.

建寧一開始到Maine，他在那邊打了二十場，三分命中率46.4趴 ,然後被交易到現在這支
球隊
"In the preseason games, I didn't have the confidence that I had in college,"
said Janning, who did not appear in a Suns regular season game. "I've
improved my shooting a great deal.

「在季前賽時我沒有保持我在大學的自信心，但我的投籃已經有很大的進步了」
"I've put myself in a good spot to earn a few (NBA) looks. It's a pretty good
opportunity."
