Phoenix Suns' Steve Nash reports for duty

It is hardly news for any other December, but this one is the starting
point for a Suns season. Nash, Robin Lopez and Zabian Dowdell were the
first Suns through the door when US Airways Center was opened to players
for the first time since the NBA lockout began July 1. On Friday, Grant
Hill, Channing Frye, Hakim Warrick, Josh Childress, Markieff Morris and
Garret Siler are expected to join them.

這是和其他幾次比起來，幾乎沒有太多消息的十二月。但仍是太陽一個球季的起點。
當7/1以後，球場的門第一次被打開，老大就帶著導爹和肉汁進去訓練了。
Hill、瓦力、福來、童裝、MM和肥仔星期五也預計會歸隊。


 Unlike most people, Nash believes the Suns are a playoff team after
missing the postseason last season at 40-42. Their roster and rotation
likely will look largely the same as the front office keeps salary space
in tact to pursue at least one maximum-level free agent in July.

不像其他的人，在去年球季，一個沒有季後賽又難堪的40-42戰績之後， Nash 仍然
相信我們是一支能夠進入季後賽的球隊。而目前的輪值和陣容來看，明年七月我們
將會有一張頂級合約以上的薪資空間。


"I definitely would love to see us improve our roster but I think it's up
to us to find that little bit of magic and collectively and individually
to give ourselves a chance to win enough games to get in the playoffs,"
Nash said. "I would never say we're not a playoff team. That should be the
 minimum of our goals and let's see how good we can get."

「我當然會樂見我們的陣容得到加強，但我認為目前首要的是找到
一點小魔法，好讓我們不管是集體或者團隊都能夠有一個進入季後賽的機會。。」
Nash說：
「我絕對不會說我們不是一支季後賽球隊，那應該是我
們最低限度的目標，而且準備看看我們能夠做得多好吧！」


Nash made it clear that he does not want to try to get the team back to
the playoffs without Hill, a four-year member of the Suns who is an
unrestricted free agent but a priority for Suns brass to sign on Dec. 9.

"I'm very hopeful Grant will be back," Nash said. "It's very, very important
to me that he is back personally. I think he is very important to the team
and community.

「我非常希望 Hill 能夠回來。這對我個人而言非常、非常重要。
我認為他對於整個團隊和氣氛都相當重要。」

"I think that, all things being even, Grant would want to come back here.
I'm sure he's going to be highly coveted by a lot of teams. Phoenix will
have to really make him a great offer and put him in a position where he
can't say no to coming back."

Nash hardly plays basketball games during the off-season but continually
works out and shoots. Normally, he uses a month of voluntary workouts and
pickup games at the arena to get into shape but he will get only a week of
that before training camp opens Dec. 9. The Suns will play two preseason
games against Denver and likely start their regular season soon after
Christmas.

"I definitely need the next three or four weeks to get into basketball
shape but I'm healthy and my body feels great," the 37-year-old Nash said.

這位三十七歲的老將說：

  身體狀況也維持得不錯。」

The revamped schedule's pace is bound to affect Nash. With 66 games
crammed into four months, each team will play three games in three
nights at least once and as many as three times.

新的賽季對老大是個考驗，密集的賽程中每支球隊至少需要打一次三連戰
多則三次。

"It's going to be brutal," Nash said. "Four games a week is tough for
anybody. So it'll be hard. But I feel in great shape and I'm hoping
to be able to cope with it as well as anybody."

「這當然很殘酷拉。」老大說：「每週打四場比賽對誰都是很艱困的。
當我覺得還不錯，所以應該可以面對得來並和任何人相抗衡。。」

Asked about residual tension between players and owners, Nash said,
"You talking about me and Robert (Sarver)?" with a smile, referring
to the Suns' managing partner.

當被問及他和 $arver 之間的關係，老大笑了。

"We're on two different sides of a collective-bargaining agreement,"
said Nash, who retweeted a writer's anti-Sarver sentiment in September.
 "So we aren't teammates in that situation. There was a lot of animosity
and I think at times it got personal. I think everyone is man enough to
recognize what it is and maybe even admit to their mistakes in the process
and put it behind us and go back to where we were as far as working together
and being business partners or teammates.

"I'm excited that we can have resolution; excited to be back; excited for
 the franchise to progress, build and grow and find a way to have a great
season after last year's disappointment."

「我很高興我們能夠解決薪資糾紛，我對於回來感到興奮。特別興奮的在去年的不
順遂後，我們即將捲土重來，重新建立和發展一個良好的球隊秩序。」

Nash said he had not thought about the speculation that lies ahead on his
own future, entering his contract's final year. He is not eligible for an
extension this off-season.

來到自己高薪合約的最後一年， Nash卻沒有太多的想法。至少在休館期間他認為
談論這個並不合適。

He is more concerned with improving his team and winning back fan support
and trust by "playing our butts off."

他更關注於怎麼改善他的團隊，而且怎麼以勝利來回報球迷們
對於"playing our butts off"的信任與支持。

"I'm just excited to be back and want to do whatever I can to put this team
in a playoff position," he said. "As far as the future, after eight months
away, that's so far ahead right now. Just desperate to get back to work."

「我只對於能夠回來盡自己的全力幫助球隊進入季後賽感到興奮而已。」
Nash說：「至於未來還遠著呢，至少還有八個月，目前談那些還太早，
          我現在只想不顧一切去工作。。」
