Phoenix Suns offer Charles Garcia another shot at making it to NBA

After his junior year at Seattle University, Charles Garcia had
NBA scouts drooling.
在 Charles Garcia 大三那年，就讀西雅圖大學的他讓一些球探流了一地口水。
He impressed teams in just one season at Seattle, which was in
its first season at the Division I level, averaging 18.7 points
and 8.3 rebounds a game on 47.4 percent shooting.
他在西雅圖大學進入 Division I level 的第一個球季的表現就令人印象深刻，
該季他的表現是 18.7 分、 8.3 籃板 和 47.4 的命中率。
Garcia said seven teams told him they would draft him if he was
available in the first round so Seattle put together a draft party
for the Los Angeles native.
當時有七支球隊告訴 Garcia ，他們願意在第一輪裡選他，

The first round of the 2010 NBA draft came and went, and Garcia
received no call, the second round, same result.

"It was a down time because everybody had high hopes for me,"
Garcia said of not being drafted. "The outcome was a downfall,
but I bounced back from it.

"I'm glad they gave me this Number 30 so I can show the 30 teams
that passed up on me what I can do."

As an undrafted rookie, he participated in the New York Knicks
summer league but wasn't offered an NBA deal when it ended. He
headed to Turkey after agreeing on a reported six-figure deal.

"It was totally different," Garcia said. "It was a big adjustment;
the game was slow over there, not my type of basketball."

After just two games in Turkey, he played five games in Mexico.
He returned to the United States in 2010 and played in 11 D-League
games for the Utah Flash and Iowa Energy.

The 23-year-old is familiar with scenery changes; he attended
five colleges, Sacramento State, Diablo Valley College, Riverside
Community College, Yuba College and finally Seattle, where he
spent his junior season.

"Just trying to find the perfect situation for me," Garcia said.
"School-wise it was academics, that's why I was bouncing around a lot."

Garcia說：

The 2011-12 season proved to be his most productive but not the
most stable. He started with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, averaging
14.9 points and 6.9 rebounds in 22 games and earning D-League All-Star
honors.
2011-2012 的球季證明了他是最有生產力但並非最穩定的球員。
他在 Sioux Falls Skyforce 隊開始這個球季，
在 22 場比賽裡拿到 14.9 分、 6.9 籃板，
然後成為了 NBDL 的 All- Star 球員。
But a failed drug test in February cost him five games and got
him sent home to Seattle.

"Dumb mistake," Garcia said. "I was playing well and I felt like
I should have had a call-up but that wasn't the outcome. Got a
little depressed and it turned out negatively at the end of the day."

He then appeared in 13 games for the D-League Fort Wayne Mad Ants
averaging 11.8 points and 6.9 rebounds to close the season.

The Suns have given the 6-foot-9, 229-pound bruiser another shot
at making his dream of playing in the NBA into a reality.

He showed a nose for getting to the basket in the Suns 99-74
victory Sunday against the New York Knicks going 2 for 8 from
the floor with all his attempts coming within 5 feet of the hoop
and grabbed five rebounds.
他在星期日，太陽以 99 - 74 擊敗尼克隊的比賽中表現突出，
他在籃下五英呎的八次投籃嘗試中進了兩次，另外也搶了五個籃板。
"He's very athletic and can really run," Suns assistant coach
and summer league head coach Dan Majerle said. "He's got a lot
of skills can step out and shoot the shot. He plays hard he's
got to learn how to play a little bit, understand the plays a
little bit we threw so much at him. He's young and he's a talent."
Dan Majerle 大大說：
「他非常有運動能力而且很能跑。他有一些不錯的過人和投籃技巧，
在我們教他的該如何做得更突出一點、更了解比賽一點的方面，
他表現得很賣力。而且他既年輕又有天分。」
