P.J. TUCKER THE NEXT DAN MAJERLE?

P.J. Tucker 是下一個丹‧馬利?

It’s a little known fact what is P.J. in P.J. Tucker stands for.
That’s because Tucker’s real first name is Anthony: named after
his dad. So why aren’t his initials A.J.?

鮮少人知道P.J. Tucker為什麼是P.J，因為Tucker的第一個名字是他父親的
名字Anthony，但是為什麼他不叫A.J咧?

His father, a baseball player, was known for the pop in his bat and
thus got the moniker, Pop. That’s how the Suns forward wound up
with the nickname Pops Jr., or P.J. for short.

Tucker的父親是一位棒球員，以兇狠的打擊著稱，所以也就得到綽號"POP"，
這也讓Tucker得到小POP的綽號或者P.J的簡稱。

It’s funny because pop is exactly what Tucker has provided the Suns
off the bench all season long. His energy and effort have been a
large reason why the Suns have made more comebacks this season than
Brett Favre and Guns and Roses combined.

有趣的是爆炸性的表現也是Tucker本季從板凳出發帶給太陽的表現。他的能量
跟努力是太陽本季演出這麼多次逆轉戲碼的重要原因，逆轉次數甚至比
Brett Favre跟槍與玫瑰加起來還多。

That effort is what Tucker loves most about basketball.

Tucker最愛籃球是因為那種努力的感覺。

“I just like going out and playing,” he told the media after his
team’s 111-108 comeback win over New Orleans on Friday. “I like to
hustle. I like the little things. That’s what separate teams and
separates players.”

擊敗黃蜂的那晚他告訴媒體說我就是喜歡上場打球，我喜歡拼搶，我喜歡做一
些別人不會做的小動作。

While Tucker’s ability to do the little things and play great defense
earned him the nickname “The Garbage Man”from this writer, it’s
been his 3-point shooting the last two games that has impressed over
the last two games. It may even earn him the new epithet: “The second
coming of Dan Majerle.” Alright, maybe not.

因為Tucker的小動作跟優秀的防守，讓他從筆者這得到一個綽號叫做"垃圾工"
(應該是指收垃圾的人)，而他過去兩場的三分線令我驚豔。這也許會讓他得到
新的綽號"第二個丹‧馬利"，好吧~或許不行。

“Dan doesn’t have to be worried about anything,” Tucker said laughing.
“Thunder is the man.”

Tucker他笑著說丹他不用擔心，因為他是"閃電" (丹‧馬利的綽號)

OK, so maybe it was a stretch. Tucker had never attempted a 3-pointer
in his NBA career prior to last game. He managed to hit his first
three of his career before missing one as the shot clock expired in the
third quarter. The offensive outburst, which led to 15 points overall
for the Suns swingman, was key in the Suns overtime win.

好吧，這也許是在吹牛。Tucker的NBA生涯在這場比賽之前從未試嘗試投過三分球，
他在第三節24秒進攻時間快到時投了一顆沒進，但是下一球就進了，然後本場比賽
Tucker就爆發了，他拿下了15分並成為在延長賽獲勝的關鍵球員。

But why has Tucker’s long-range shooting changed so drastically in his
return to the NBA? Some people may think it’s because defenders are
cheating off of him to help their teammates. That is something he is
more than willing to take advantage of.

但是為什麼Tucker的長距離投籃在他回到NBA後有如此大的轉變呢? 有些人會覺得是
因為防守球員會選擇放掉他而去協防其他人。這也算是他的另類優勢吧。(笑)

“I love it,” he said to the media. “Cheat off me. I’m going to shoot
it and knock it down.”

他告訴媒體說：我愛死了，你敢放我，我就射爆你！

There may be another reason for his success though that has more to do
with the way Tucker sees the rim than the way defenders see him. That’s
because he had to have Lasik surgery(註) early this year after being
poked in the eye by a teammate during preseason. That accident may have
been one of the best things to ever happen to him.

另外一個成功的原因可能是因為他的進攻手段比他的防守球員想的還要多，因為他在
季前被隊友打傷眼睛後進行了眼睛雷射手術，這次的意外對他來說也許是這輩子最好
的一件事。

註：LASIK（Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis），是一種透過雷射改變眼角
膜的弧度，以改善視力的手術。

“I see everything better,” he said. “The greatest thing I’ve ever
done in my life is LASIK. I should do a commercial I love it so much.

他說道：手術後我看得更清楚了，我這輩子做過最棒的事就是動了眼睛雷射手術；我
應該要去拍廣告，因為我太愛他了。

“It affected everything in my life. Not just basketball, not just work.
Just being at home and not having to get up to look at something. I kind
of laugh about it and say, ‘Oh, I can see that.’”

他影響了我生活中的每件事，不只是籃球也不只是工作，有次在家不需要戴眼鏡就可
以看得清楚，我笑了也大叫說"oh 我終於可以看得清楚啦"

And Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry can see clearly how much Tucker has meant
to his club early on.

然後簡崔也在最近清楚的了解到Tucker在球隊的重要性。

“I can’t say enough about P.J. Tucker, he epitomizes what we want our
entire team to be, really,” the coach told the media after his team’s
19-point comeback. “That is a hard, grind-it-out worker that never quits
on any play. That rebound was tremendous at the end. I can’t say enough
about him. I just think that he does such a great job. To have him on your
team and to have him play like that night in and night out – and at
practice too, he plays the same way in practice, I think is a credit to
the professionalism he brings to our team.”

簡崔在球隊完成19分的逆轉後告訴媒體說：我無法跟你說清楚Tucker這個人，他體現
了我們整隊所希望做到的。他是努力的球員從來不放棄任何一個play，他最後那個籃
板實在是太驚人了。我認為他做得很好，有他在我們球隊，然後每晚有這樣的表現甚
至連練習也都一樣，我認為這對我們球隊來說是一種榮幸。

That’s right, Tucker brings the professionalism and effort that Gentry
and the Suns need off the bench. He also has, as of late, brought the bonus
3-point accuracy like his assistant coach Majerle. Just don’t expect
him to take another cue from the former Sun and open Tucker’s Sports
Bar. He’s just happy being able to fit in and help the team by providing
the team with pop. Fortunately, just happens to be the name that describes
him, and his game.

Tucker從板凳出發帶來簡崔跟球隊所需要的精神跟努力，他也慢慢長出三分能力就跟
他們的助理教練丹‧馬利一樣，只是不要期待他會跟這位前太陽球員一樣開一間
Tucker的運動酒吧XDDD  他很高興能夠融入球隊並帶給球隊爆炸性的表現，而這剛好
跟他的名字以及他的比賽一樣。



終於有一段跟P.J. Tucker有關的專欄了，今天太陽最大的驚奇我想非他莫屬。
(小歐對不起T____T)，雖然今年是你最強的一年，但是Tucker這種精神實在令我佩服
不已，希望Tucker能夠繼續加油，變成隊上的大鎖跟穩定的外線跳投能力那就夠了。
