Sebastian Telfair went out of the rotation three weeks ago, and now he is
headed out of Phoenix.

The Suns agreed to send Telfair to Toronto just before the 1 p.m. NBA trade
deadline for fifth-year center Hamed Haddadi and a 2014 second-round draft
pick. The move gives Telfair an opportunity to play after he had been moved
out of the rotation (so the Suns could develop rookie Kendall Marshall), and
it gives the Suns a pick and a slight payroll savings.

The 2014 second-round pick will be the lowest among the Toronto and
Sacramento picks in that draft.
Haddadi, the first Iranian NBA player, is a 7-foot-2 center who has played
134 games with career averages of 6.1 minutes, 2.0 points and 2.1 rebounds.
He appears to be the piece that makes the trade’s salaries match but likely
does not have a future with Phoenix, although there is a $1.4 million team
option on his contract for next season.

Telfair won the Majerle Hustle Award last season as he won over the staff
with his improved play in solidifying the hard-to-fill backup-point-guard
role behind Nash.
Telfair, 27, is headed for his seventh NBA team and is in search of his first
playoff appearance. He is averaging 6.0 points and 2.5 assists this season
with 38.1 percent shooting and 38.1 percent 3-point shooting.
