Bell waived by Hornets 10/18/2005, 3:55 p.m. CT The Associated Press OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The New Orleans Hornets waived guard Troy Bell on Tuesday after he appeared in only one preseason game with the team. Bell, a 6-foot-1 guard, played 10 minutes in the Hornets' 101-83 loss to Orlando on Saturday but did not score. He was 0-for-2 from the field and had one rebound, one assist and one turnover while committing three fouls. The all-time scoring leader at Boston College, Bell signed as a free agent with the Hornets on Oct. 1. He was the first player cut from the Hornets during preseason camp. The Hornets, who will play 35 of their home games in Oklahoma City this season, now have 17 players on their roster. The Boston Celtics took Bell with the 16th overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft and traded him to Memphis, where he played six games. Tendonitis in his left knee caused him to miss most of that season, and the Grizzlies waived him prior to the start of last season.
