If you are asking really psychology centered research with CS tools..
I will say dimension reduction for understanding human reasoning and
category learning.. This is the one I know..
For example the Isomap I mentioned. It is based on some ideas of
Multidimensional scaling (MDS), which is initially introduced by
psychologists.

What do you mean by "information"? Information theory or what?
For virtual community, there exist some papers and groups that try to
understand internet calture, web content, and web-human interaction.
But... I guess that you need them yourself to know if they really match
your interests....
For choosing a department, it really depends. Some CS departments study
psychology and social networking. Some math departments do so,
and some psychology departments or biology departments do so..
