1.Castro has posted wRC+’s of 99, 109, 98 and 70. He can’t draw a walk
and doesn’t have much power.
2.There’s a big difference in the way Castro was pitched in 2013 and
the way he had been pitched in earlier years. In general, pitchers
threw him a lot more fastballs (over 60%, where he’d been in the
54-55% range in prior seasons) and a lot fewer breaking balls (about
25%, down from 30+% in prior seasons). Most of those extra fastballs
are two-seamers.
3.OBP: Tabata(15M/6y) .339, Castro(60M/8y) .322
4.Ranking 4th among NL SS’s in WAR in each of the previous two years
hasn’t proven that he can be above average?
A: He was 4th in WAR only because there were just 7 qualifiers one year
and 10 the other
5.His ranking in the NL in UZR/150 has been:
