"How we started was how we finished," coach Flip Saunders said.
"Slow start, methodical, didn't execute, didn't run our stuff.
The ball didn't move. And against them, you've got to be able
to move the ball, and we didn't do that."
"They got out too far on us early" said point guard Chauncey
Billups, who scored 23 points. "We closed the gap a few times,
but it takes so much energy closing the gap that you've got to
sustain that somehow. And we just weren't able to do it."
Billups attacked Rondo in the third quarter. He scored 18 in the
third -- a team record for scoring in a quarter -- frequently
getting to the rim and drawing fouls, Billups went 11-for-11 at
the line in the quarter.
"We had some good shots, but you need to initiate your offense
inside," Saunders said. "We initiated too much outside. The easy
way is to take perimeter jumpers because you're always going
to get those."
Wallace landed awkwardly on his left ankle and iced it after the
game. When asked if it was OK, he said, "We'll see."
