No tears
Saunders pulled out a handkerchief and began to dab his eyes.
He had just been told Cleveland complained to the league about
having to play 21 back-to-backs, with the second game being on
the road 17 times.
"We've been in 23, 24 back-to-backs the last three years," he said.
"I am not going to pull out my handkerchief and start crying. Both
times we've played them, we were on the back end of back-to-backs
and they had rested. We played Boston three times, twice on back-to-backs."
This is the first time in three years the Pistons don't play at
least 20 back-to-backs. They play 19 with 15 of the second games
on the road.
Bench is cooking
The Pistons bench produced 109 points in the previous two games.
Jarvis Hayes was the main contributor, producing 47 points and
hitting 10-of-13 3-point attempts.
"I am not exaggerating when I say this," guard Chauncey Billups said.
"But they are playing better than a lot of teams' starting fives, a
lot of teams.'?"
The bench is averaging 27.4 points a game, which is the most since
the 2004 bench averaged 26.8.
