■ SEEKING AN INTERPRETER FLUENT IN ENGLISH
PhD researchers from Yale University in the United States are seeking
an interpreter to help with a project on the Korean War. The research
assistant will help the researchers interview war veterans by
providing simultaneous translation from Chinese into English, and will
also assist with organizational aspects of the project. The ideal
candidate will be a graduate student fluent in English and will have
experience working as an interpreter. Interest in history is preferred
but not required. The research assistant will be compensated at the
rate of TWD2,000/day. You will need to be available full-time
(8am-8pm) between July 15 and July 31; a limited amount of part-time
work immediately before and after the dates above will also be

■ SEEKING A RESEARCH ASSISTANT
PhD researchers from Yale University in the United States are seeking
a research assistant to help with a project on the Korean War. The
research assistant will be the lead interviewer in conversations with
veterans. The ideal candidate will have experience working with
elderly people, have a basic knowledge of Chinese and Taiwanese
history, and ability to think on his/her feet. The research assistant
will mostly be asked to follow an interview script, although some
independent initiative will also be required. Basic knowledge of
spoken English is a plus. The research assistant will be compensated
at the rate of TWD2,000/day. You will need to make yourself available
full-time (8am-8pm) between July 15 and July 31. If you are interested
