當時的現任副總統民主黨的高爾
雖然在普選當中贏得多數
但卻在關鍵的Florida州
以極具爭議性的一連串事件後
輸掉該州
也同時輸掉了總統之位
共和黨的布希總統
原民調僅有三成
但卻在9/11恐怖攻擊,對阿富汗戰爭,對伊拉克戰爭後
民調如日中天
勝選希望甚高
至於民主黨陣營
繼高爾與西拉蕊柯林頓在去年宣布不再參選後
出現群雄無首的情況
現民主黨的總統候選人中

但 Wesely Clark 在近日內直追而上

受到傳統民主黨人士的支持
包含2000年總統候選人高爾的支持
