HELP THE AGED CELEBRATE! PULP, NICK CAVE and BILLY BRAGG all played a surprise secret show at LONDON KING'S COLLEGE last night (September 25) to commemorate veteran radio and television man JOHN PEEL's 40 years in broadcasting. The trio of acts each played brief sets, recorded for broadcast at a later date on BBC Radio 1, with each thanking Peel for what he has done for them, and talking warmly about their memories of the man. Following Billy Bragg, Nick Cave, solo onstage with just a piano, played old classics 'The Ship Song', 'Are You The One That I've Been Waiting For?' and 'God Is In The House' from new album 'No More Shall We Part'. Pulp, meanwhile, started by thanking Peel, "without whom we wouldn't exist', before opening with a cover of the Duane Eddy surf-guitar classic 'Peter Gunn', a favourite of Peel's. They rounded up their set with 'Sorted For E's And Wizz', 'Help The Aged' - which they dedicated specifically to Peel - 'This Is Hardcore' and a barnstorming version of new single 'Sunrise'. Boy George and former Wedding Present frontman David Gedge were among the guests. http://www.nme.com/NME/External/News/News_Story/0,1004,43404,00.html -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 140.123.212.37
